I am agreed on that AOE3 isn't a problem that much. As you know no one will order tight formation to the infantry unless they have something that needs B2B with each other or able to laugh off the blasts(such as Trencher Infantry that needs to concentrate the fire on a target) so the AOE either catches only one trooper or can't damage the target. ARM 11 surely dies like flies against blast POW 6 or something, but even ARM 13 is not safe against that.
But, are we need infantry cleaner role for ATGM? Most of our units with ranged attack are able to do the task. And Tempest Blazers are the best among them, so if you just need to get rid of the enemy infantries you can call some Blazers instead.
Well, with the update, they have one-shot True Sight, so they are far from unusable. But their strength is the support branch, not the line infantry, and they are only the specialist that depend on the matchup.

btt: imho, the stormBLADES will get their weird leader interaction removed, fulfilling the claim for more POW. stormguard + silverline get the weird +1RNG/hit for the blast set to a fix amount and ~guard get +1 POW. silverline may get a cost reduction reduction ('cause it sells the combo kit). along with unyielding in theme, that is enough love to last a few millennia (or so i hear from PP). mercs in SotT will be rather mandatory, i theorize about dwarfs + crawler. as a theme benefit ATGM get ambush, probably not if they have a jack attached. i still find a marshaled charger or cyclone very tempting with runeshot, the question is would you rather have a 2. unit of ATGM or a marshaled jack on the first. maybe PP get real creative and allow marshaled jacks to benefit from the units spell as a theme benefit, or allow the officer to pass his true sight to the marshaled jack as well. maybe they allow the old long gunners in theme ('cause it helps clear the warehouse), as well as rangers (in case you absolutely, positively, need to have ALL bullets plink off the armor). i don't really want to speculate about all the partisan units announced for oblivion, but from their last iteration, the resolutes will NOT be in SotT, Throne 1 will also not be allowed, because he is large base. the battle priest could be thrown in as a middlefinger from PP. onijet01the Stormwall DOES poop out a pod without requiring an attack

I beg to differ. They kill infantry which is actually good. They threat 20", meaning they can shoot that infantry twice unless they get shredded. They have nice Def and high rat. They have crit knockdown and that push ability either forces decisions on your opponent or scores you zones and opens up assassination angles. With gunfighter they can eventually deal some good damage. So you don't get 6 winterguard for those 11 points. But your point does stay valid: they are not cheap, they die easily against blasts and they are not the greatest armour cracking unit. To me they are still good tough! It depends on what you need in your list Literally everything in Cygnar kills infantry. Most other things are more survivable and/or do something else as well. Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers are pretty terrible for their cost.

It would have been neat if warjacks in SoT gained girded, or at least marshaled warjacks. Everybody seems to enjoy the gun mage aesthetic, and making gun mages more survivable might have led to seeing more gun mages on the table. Oh well.
