So the Swamp Gobber River Raiders are now 1pt each and added individually, up to 9pts for 9 models.
That actually seems pretty good to me, their job is to gum up your opponent's plans and cause chaos for a discount price. While the mat/rat5 6" pow10 gun and pow6 melee still suck, their solo status, activation/purchasing flexibility, def14, and prowl are pretty nice. The real gem on their card is dual attack/reel in combo which gives them attack volume, significantly extends that threat range, lets them shoot out of melee, and gets them into back arcs forcing things to turn around to fight them.
They'll probably see play as points filler with a bunch of casters, and I can definitely see them being useful when taken en masse with Helga or Jaga/Barny2 where they already saw occasional play for featslams/gangfighter or as sacrifices respectively.
At least to start with, I'm looking forward to this:
Helga: WWFF -Road Hog -Road Hog -War Hog -Battle Boar -Battle Boar -Soul Slave (free) Dahlia & Skarath 9x River Raiders 1 Gobber Chef Valkyries Valkyries Witch Doc (free) Mist Speaker (free)

Once Void Archons come out, I think Helga's toolbox will get a good bit more interesting. Maybe not "good", but I think they'll be a big boon to her and having the River Raiders become cheaper in advance is a nice bonus

This gives them a point reduction, correct? They were 4 pts for 3 if I recall, so that's cool. Mixed reviews on how this affects other factions though; they can't get 3 models for a single solo spot anymore, but factions without access to single point fillers can now get 1 of these if they aren't using their Merc/minion slot up. I know this was big for me in Skorne when the chef came out!

I definitely prefer them to chefs if I dont need the fury managment. Weaken on them looks pretty cute with Carver batten and with skorne agonizers (xekaar feat turn can drop a model's str by up to 7) even if it only effecrs living models.

Great source of corpses for Barnie2's feat and hey they also work well with the chef if you ever need it. Also if the dhunian archon is around they heal when they die. Also useful for Jaga's feat turn when you need to get rid of a high def solo.

They seem quite effective now. They'll outright replace the Chef in Skorne and Circle, and if we're lucky we can buy the extra 2 spare River Raiders when those players want them Their gun is often underrated too. It's still a Rat5 Pow10, with Jaga Jaga in particular they will pose a surprising threat to infantry. Not a HUGE threat, but 2 of them randomly killing 4 light infantry would be very amusing. Not that light infantry are really an issue outside of doom reavers.

The gobbers can definitely kill things (sometimes up to 3 a round with no assistance), especially when they're being ignored. Those free strikes in particular seem to fall in a sweet spot where they're weak enough that enemies will often provoke them but they can still be threatening to infantry.
I'd also note that on Helga's feat turn their charges can do some work against medium-hard targets due to the ease of lining up slams; pow6+4d6 gets an average result of 20 which is enough to rough up a light jack especially if you get spikes. Throw in debuffs from the void archon and hermit (if that actually sticks) and they'll be entirely capable of ripping apart a khador heavy. Averaging roughly 4 damage per charge and 1 damage per gunshot, buyorboost gives 6 gobbers a 49.1% chance to oneround a fresh juggy, leaving three more gobbers to spare (and you can get all 9 into melee range if needed by having some of them reel away or reel into back arc). Hehehehehe...

Kinda looking at taking them with Barnabas2. He gets his cheap feat fodder, highish defence solos for flags and contesting zones and I think I like him in wwff over blindwater. Thoughts?

I'm much more a fan of the Barnabus2 lists I see in WWFF than in Blindwater, so I don't think you're wrong there. They're probably not a bad idea for points filler to get some more Feat bodies into the list

I have one in Blindwater that I love playing and it works super well, I am interested to see if I can make something better in WWFF. Thanks!

I was thinking something like this
War Room Army
Minions - Dojo
Theme: Will Work For Food 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army
Barnabas, Lord of Blood - WB: +23 - Barnabas, Lord of Blood (Cont.) - Gatorman Soul Slave - PC: 0 - Bull Snapper - PC: 5 (Battlegroup Points Used: 5) - Boneswarm - PC: 7 (Battlegroup Points Used: 7) - Boneswarm - PC: 7 (Battlegroup Points Used: 7) - Boneswarm - PC: 7 (Battlegroup Points Used: 4)
Dahlia Hallyr - Hallyr & Skarath: 17 - Skarath Wrong Eye - Wrong Eye & Snapjaw: 17 - Snapjaw Underchief Mire - PC: 4 - Blackhide Wrastler - PC: 16 Kwaak Slickspine & Gub, Croak Sorcerers - PC: 0 Orin Midwinter, Rogue Inquisitor - PC: 0 Swamp Gobber Chef - PC: 1 Swamp Gobber Chef - PC: 1 Swamp Gobber River Raider - PC: 1 Swamp Gobber River Raider - PC: 1 Swamp Gobber River Raider - PC: 1 Swamp Gobber River Raider - PC: 1
Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron - Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron: 5 Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron - Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron: 5 Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew - Leader & 1 Grunt: 2
THEME: Will Work For Food ---
GENERATED : 06/03/2019 09:50:29 BUILD ID : 2069.18-10-06
So, 3 boneswarms for def 15 under EOBN, def 17 with swarm up. With 3 corpses from the cauldrons and 3 rages from mire they hit at ps 18. All the swamp gobbers are at def 16 under EOBN, lowest def is 14 in the list. With the bellows crew to ensure dahlia has stealth so she can’t be shot and with haunting melody can’t be attacked from within 8”. Also there’s 3 fury from the loaded snapper, 2 from the bellows crew, 6 from gobbers and 2 if required from the boil masters in a pinch. So, at the beginning of his feat turn Barney will be on 20 fury. Not much lives through that! Sprinkle in some starcrossed from wrong eye and you will have an angry opponent when they try to hit you.
Just a dojo list so if anyone has any input, fire away!!

With the obvious proviso that I don't play Gator Warlocks and have never put Barnabus2 on the field, I came up with this a while back when qc and I were messaging one another about WWFF Barnabus2 options: Barnabus2 -Wrastler -Boneswarm -Boneswarm -Boneswarm -Bullsnapper Bellows Crew Valkyries Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron Dahlia and Skarath Wrongeye and Snapjaw Gremlin Swarm Gremlin Swarm Orin Midwinter Gobber Chef Gobber Chef The Gobber Chefs can pretty reasonably just be River Raiders I think. Not sure how much else I'd change.

I don't really care if I can get much work out of one. Just glad I finally have another point fill/last gasp contender model for some of my factions!
They are really decent in truth, for one point. Compare to TB whelps 0.8 pts per, with no weapon, Annoyance, and no DEF skills, as solo fillers go...

Barnabas from feat can have max 7 fury afaik.
In list in the end i swapped valkyries and one gober chef for bone grinders and mire. It is quite fine and fun to play but i won't change anything in it for swamp Gobber rivers, boil Masters grinders and sonetimes one if the beasts is enough for the feat imo
