What is your favorite base configuration on each map, and why?

My favorite base setup is nothing but Power Plants. I just put down like 10-12 Power Plants on my side of the board. If my opponent asks why, I just lie and say Defender X (or Sky Sentinel, whichever one has rules he doesn’t know) has a special rule that lets me benefit from Power Producer on all of them at once. If my opponent says that I can only take 4 of the same building in my list, I just flip the table and break all his models and leave.
Powering up for like 43 Power dice each turn is pretty sweet, and makes for some interesting plays.

That's an...interesting strategy.
I have none, only having gotten a few games in. Another fellow in my group bought a bunch of the models, but he wants them painted before we play.

I've had maybe five games and all of them were before the faction buildings came out. I don't know enough to contribute, I think, but having two SSS buildings could be hilarious whether they both end up on your side of the table or not. I really like the buildings that apply across the table benefits over the adjacent model benefits.

I felt pretty okay with my setup for my GUARD stuff, but I suspect that the dinosaurs are going to want completely different buildings.

Heck, even if I got some games in, at the moment all I have are the paper apartment buildings.

I hate to say it, but I'm having a hard time with the idea of spending $15-$20 on each building. Maybe I'll put in the investment eventually, but right now it's just too much to swallow.

It’s not so bad. You are practically going to get use out of about 3 buildings tops each game. So just buy the 3 you really need.

Though it's probably more like six since I want to have at least enough stuff for a full game (i.e. both sides). That's around $100 on buildings? We'll see how it goes; the plan is to paint two basic lists then demo the game (figure I have a better chance of getting people interested with actual painted models). If it catches on then I'll start putting more money in. I'm worried that the price might be discouraging to new players who are not yet accustomed to spending this kind of money on "toys" though.

Roughly $150 U.S.D. buy in is not bad at all. Beats the heck out of 40K any day!

I will say that I REALLY like the look of that Void Gate. I take it you can use it with any army, and Empower and Psychokinesis still work?

So far, each special building has one faction-locked ability (usually making spawning units cheaper), and one ability anyone can use. Nothing is faction-locked unless the rule says so.

I don't know yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's whatever my monkeys are going to like best. But first I need the monkeys.
