Just curious what cryx players think of this topic. Me and a friend were discussing it and neither of us are Lich3 fans in particular. Is there strong non gaspy3 pairs in this situation?

I would say Dark Host would pair well. With slaughter fleet Skarre 3, you can really leverage ranged attacks and Jacks and be good against most other ranged lists and dude spam. In Dark Host you can bring the dudes that can mow through pretty much anything they can reach, including other jack spam or heavy armor. If you don't like black industries with Asphyxious 3, I think Skarre 1 dark host does a really good job of covering most bases. But for competitive play and pairings, I am sure there are others that have a lot more experience than I do.

Slaughter fleet is pretty infantry-heavy, so either Dark Host with a strong anti-shooting vibe, or preferably Black Industries.
You can do some really fun things in Black Industries outside of Gaspy3. Top of the list imo would be either Denny2 or the coven. Honourable mentions go to Venethrax and Shade1 who all can run really interesting dark horse lists in BI. You could even try Aiakos2 jus for e shock value. Just as an excuse to field the model, Denny3 could work as well, although I've always found her disappointing.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot as a contingency if the list is nerfed. Right now I’m leaning towards
Denny2 BI (assuming only lich is nerfed and not slayers/theme)
Goreshade2 DH
Lich1 Ghost Fleet
I’d like to find a way to make Coven Satyxis work but I’m concerned I don’t have a big brick breaker in that pair... potentially if I moved from Skarre3 to Denny1 in Slaughterfleet

Another Slaughter Fleet is also a possibility, depending on your build. The theme is so diverse there are many different things to do with it.

Im in the same boat trying to figure out a Pairing. Im thinking Skarre1 (Double WE,) Denny2 in BI has good synergy. Maybe Scourge with Gaspy1/Denny1?

I haVe been playing a 3 slayer version over Levi in skarre 3 and pairing it to skarre one double engine 4 stalker. I would lobpve to fine another list as a match and get away from skarre 1. Question is is what are people finding as an issue for skarre 3. I know grymkin may be an overall issue and maybe Menoth, Other thoughts!

For skarre3 my current biggest problem match ups are: Haley3 Diggers - It's a def skew with a cloud wall that's very resistant vs shooting that will grind the ogruns out over time more efficiently than the ogruns can. Some lists of Circle - Depends on the circle list, for example im reasonably confident in Skarre3's ability to beat krueger2 if she absolutely had to (strictly with the kraken build im really fond of). But a lot of circle is really good at infantry shredding and models like Lord of the Feast (post CID) could kill a lot of trolls my unknowns are: Judicator based protectorate lists - I'm genuinely not sure if Skarre3 can beat this without more testing |

I think the Skarre3 Double Levi list is the only thing that answers against some protectorate lists. Guidance on the Levi's allow to bypass the Choir's blessing. This is all theorycrafting but its a start...have yet to really see what happens.

Cookielol I’m sorry what are you saying? The choir blessing I think makes affected jacks not targetable by non magic shooting, how does Skarre1or 3 help the leviathans do that?

Skarre3 lists usually have a unit of Dirge seers, who give out guided which is magic weapons + eyeless sight. it makes passage still pretty good (can't be shot to pieces by marauders) but the jack package whether it be double levi or kraken or whatever just gets to casually ignore passage |

Do they work well? i think they're a pretty important unit for the theme overall Majority of the time they are just guidance bots - but when it matters eyeless + magic weapons can be really important for your list. It's not even just throwing it on big targets like the kraken and skarre, but you can use it to do things like shelter Gerlak behind a cloud and then give him eyeless so he can charge straight through that cloud. It really annoys feats like Sorscha3's when you can still get some work done. Its the perfect answer to annoying contesting models like gremlin swarms too. In theory they can get work done in melee too, since they one hit kill living one wound infantry and are mat 7. Then they get to battle wizard out a pow 13. Not too shabby if you ask me. There's also the very hilarious interaction where missing them in melee causes them to dodge towards you and stab you with the one hit kill needle. So if eyeless and magic weapons is truly useless to you send them up with the front line troops and mix them in with marauders, that way living troops have to hit DEF 16 and if they miss dodge and riposte proc (although honestly, they just end up as Guidance bots most of the time) |
