Any trends you are seeing so far? I like him with multiple MoW units, and Demo Corps + Shocktroopers especially. Leap-frog moves thanks to Tactician, Tough against shooting, Retaliatory Strike against survivable punching, Relentless Charge when I absolutely need it to connect. Pew pew with the Hand Cannon when I can. It's great. I rate him 5/5 for Armored Corps so far.

When you compare his point cost to any other MoW unit or solo, he's pretty average in point cost. 2 MoW models for 6-7 points is fairly typical, and Atanas comes with a better than normal statline as well. Considering this and his other rules, it's not hard to justify including him. Shocktroopers being able to see through each other in Shield Wall is pretty useful, as the theme needs every attack it can get. I personally love Tactician for Suppression Tankers being able to see through Shocktroopers. If they try to jam your units, the Tankers can aim and hit DEF 14 models with the melee def bonus on average dice.
The Battle Plans are a bonus imo, but having access to non-warcaster Pathfinder is always useful.

Atanas is sort of expensive but fine. Just recognise that you probably want them in a position to get some attacks in at like turn 3-4 instead of running them as hard support. Do that and they'll serve you well. Don't do that and they'll feel like a 7 point tax for playing the game.
Retalitory Strike is probably his most powerful raw ability given how unreliable tough can be and the fact his pathfinder is conditional, but even just for pathfinder he can be tolerated because he also brings a "free" advanced move and 2 melee attacks. Again, he and his Flag Stud are no slouches in a fight and can be Desperate Pace'd randomly to go just that little bit extra. Like an Iron Fang Kovnik, is an excellent model to unjam your list with: a seperate activation to go clear some junk blocking the way for your death-star unit with all the buffs to go make mince-meat out of someone.
Tactician is ridiculous. Keep messing around with it and you will find new ways in which it makes your turn more efficient. In paricular I find it makes Man of War Kovniks stronger: they can keep closer to the fight to lend a hand with their 3 attacks they get for showing up and can also act to either unjam. Drakhuns being able to counter charge through models is also quite excellent and makes for a strong melee defense mechanism.
He's unnecessary in a list with a lot of Bombardiers I think because those guys have pathfinder in most cases anyway, lack Steady Tough to really be abused and also lack 1" reach and a strong melee weapon to truly abuse defensive strike. And Irusk 2 also doesn't need him almost at all, which is why Irusk 2 has a good niche in Armoured Corps. But he loves buffing Shockies and Demo Corps with Dragadovich.
One thing to remember is that whilst is CMD and Tactician bubbles are friggen gigantic, his actual battle plans are only Rng 5. He often can only walk 4 and then call something at 5, which is quite short. When deploying I'd recommend carefully planning where he stands so that he can buff a unit and then run. Otherwise he'll be durdling on your side of the table edge basically forever: possibly requiring Desperate Pace in the following turn to even get in range to buff the unit he wants to give a hand to.
Finishing up with niche stuff: Retalitory Strike on Demo Corps is strong, and Vlad 2's are horrifying. But Retalitory Strike on a Drakhun shouldn't be underestimated, because unless you get frozen you will basically always get to retaliate against someone. If you're throwing in a Drakhun aggressively anyway, feel free to put that buff on him so that before he goes down he gets another swing of that poleaxe
Also you can put Tough on Chariots which is hilarious and will probably randomly win a game that you've no right to.
