20% coupon? How'd you get one of those? My theme box came today, very happy.

Picked up two of each Tanker today. Waiting on Arconovich, Dragodavich, and the Bombardier Officers. Trying to decide if I want to spend the rest of my bonus on the Chariots or on foam trays that actually fit Man-O-Wars. Not as excited about that purchase, but it would be nice to actually be able to get my new steam mans out of the apartment.

I ended up getting the army box, Sorcha, 2 Strike tankers and another Suppression tanker.
I have Dragos, Atanas & Standard build. I also have the 2 Suppression partially biilt as I want to paint them before putting the arms on.
So glad I don't have to play proxy mechance anymore

I think i'm going to stick to just dragos and the bomb boy UA. These things are Firetrucking expensive for stuff that only gets used in a single theme.

Whilst I agree, and haven't yet convinced myself to buy anything, I'm having a hard time imagining Armoured Corps not being one of my lists. In that light, I don't mind spending a bit. My main issue is that rules-wise I really want an Assault Chariot, which costs far more than 'a bit', and is aesthetically terrible. Other than that it's pretty much just 'how many Tankers do I get?'.

The only stuff my LGS received were the Tanker solo's. Still waiting for atanas and Dragovich. Weird thing is they are supposed to be released next week according to the PP website, but I've seen a ton of people mentioning they already got them. How?

Most likely because Arconovich and Dragodavich are in the Man-O-War army box, which released on Friday. The only thing which hasn't been released in some form or fashion is the Bombardier Officer. Though I suppose those could be available at Cons.

Yeah, you're looking at ~$200 for the minimum new stuff to play the theme... I think allowing (good) proxies in tournaments needs to happen. The cost of themes is shutting too many people out of playing.

This is Copy/Pasted from the current SR2017 PDF You can Kit-Bash your own Tanker from PP parts, the parts don't need to be from the original model it supposed to represent and it will be 100% tournament legal. Only thing you can't do is say "This Drakhun counts as a Striker".

That really is too restrictive and also a lot of work to boot. I think the community should adopt a more relaxed standard.
Obviously not going so far as to say: "this Drakhun is a Tanker" or even "This Legion heavy is a tanker". But some sort of decent middle ground where so long as the thing is obviously the thing its supposed to be than that's cool.

They are basically just saying that the model has to look like what it's supposed to be. And while there's models that technically fulfill that requirement because they look very similar and are basically armed the same (such as a dismounted Drakhun and a Shocktrooper, or Sorscha 1 and 2), that's still confusing as the model doesn't read as what your are proxying it as, it reads as what it actually is (so for example trying to play a Shocktrooper grunt as a dismounted Drakhun could be confusing to your opponent if you are also running Shocktroopers). Of course casual games are a different matter; I regularly used to run Sorscha 1 as 2, and a regular Juggernaut as Beast 09.

I don't think those fit the requirement of 'obviously the thing it's supposed to be'.
Though let's be honest, unless you're familiar with a faction or the models are wildly different no one really knows what caster version a model actually represents. All the Butchers look the same to an opponent for example.
What you allow in casual games is pretty much irrelevant. You would be hard pressed to find anyone that will refuse to play against someone with some proxies and what is left of the community is pretty focused on tournament play. Casual games are generally practice for competition.
So what really matters is what we allow in a tournament list. A cardboard cut out of a tanker with a picture stack on the front and some text saying: "Suppression Tanker", is actually more clear than if you're running Butcher 1 or 2 with the correct model. If people cannot afford to chase the latest theme releases and tournament metas (9 Slayers anyone?), should they be excluded from tournament play? Themes have made playing in tournaments more expensive than it has ever been...
