Can someone who's tuned in to Ret fluff enlighten me as to what's going on with Ghyrrshyld's / Goreshade's height?
I saw the Shade4 model in person for I think the first time this weekend and my jaw hit the floor - his proportioning matches the other elves, but the guy is almost as tall as a heavy warjack. He makes the other Ret models look like they are taken from a different scale game. Is this a consequence of his being resurrected? Did Scyrah turn him in to some kind of Divine Court Avatar who towers over lesser mortals?
Cryx Goreshade was on a medium base, but that was always more a "bulky warcaster armor" / "I like standing on piles of heads" thing, much like with Butcher. Standing next to this guy makes Butcher look like Augustus Gloop.
edit: I've been corrected that the Goreshade1 resculpt is also trollkin-hands-grade out of scale to the other sculpts, so it appears Goreshade being a freak of nature is a deliberate change of direction for him.

He's just really tall. Someone asked Seacat back on the old forums and he said Goreshade is just a big dude. Thyron is also just a big dude, and Elara and Issyria are both pretty tall if you could stand them straight up.

I'll have to take some measurements next time. Ghyrrshylld next to other elves didn't look "tall", it looked supernatural.

I don't disagree, but the fluff is just that sometimes there are big elves. I don't think he's that out of proportion with Thyron, who is also a big dude.
Scale creep is definitely a thing though, most obviously in the jack kits and trollkin infantry.

In real life, I often stand next to people who are a head taller or shorter than I am. If a miniature is a head taller than the rest of the line, it looks completely out of scale.
I just ran Ghyrrshyld and Thyron in a tournament and they look fine next to each other (Thyron spreads his legs more and Ghyrrshyld has more bulky armour). Standing Ghyrrshyld next to my Invictor Officer (who also stands up straight), however, looks out of scale - but the actual diffetence is about a head (which is perfectly reasonable in real life).

He was that big in Cryx too, just skinnier.

If Ghyrrshyld had been shorter maybe his baby would have survived the fall?
But that's ancient history. In Ios, we don't look backwards, we look forward. Everything has been Forgiven and Ghyrrshyld one of the good guys now.

I don't think it's just that. He looked crazy in person. I'm talking probably 50mm+ tall to the top of the head. That's not "a head taller" territory, that's Goreshade and Vyros being the IK's equivalent of Shaquille O'Neill and short girlfriend. That's Andre the Giant standing next to Vizzini. It's the kind of thing you'd expect every single character who encounters him in the fluff to react to.

I would expect them to start with "holy shit it's an Eldritch". We haven't seen anybody react to him since he came back to life so it hasn't really come up.

Found this posted by Doug Seacat on the official boards in May of last year: "My original plan was to write a full novella featuring Goreshade's story within the context of the larger Skorne and Ios War. "Reborn," the Scyrah POV narrative in the NQ#71 is not the longer story I originally had in mind, but was written such that it wouldn't preclude it and could be read alongside the longer one, if I ever manage to get that done. It became apparent as we neared the release cycle for this model that I wouldn't have the chance to get the story completed prior to its unveiling. Quite unfortunate, and I wish it were otherwise. But I still intend to write this story eventually, even if I have to do so on my own time." Wonder if that's still in the pipeline. Would be nice to get some of dat Ret fluff. He was that big in Cryx too, just skinnier. I think the armour makes it very difficult to judge how skinny he really is. All you see is his face and a ton of Vyre armour. He might have gotten a bit more flesh on his bones by being de-eldritchfied but I suspect the impressive shoulder pads make him seem a lot more intimidating than he would be in plain clothes.
