I brought the following to a local sr and it has been doing okay. Mostly it's my skill level that has been the problem and not so much the list.
War Room Army
Trollblood - Doomy1
Theme: The Power of Dhunia 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army
Hoarluk Doomshaper, Shaman of the Gnarls - WB: +29 - Trollkin Runebearer - PC: 0 - Mountain King - PC: 36 (Battlegroup Points Used: 29) - Mulg the Ancient - PC: 19 - Dire Troll Mauler - PC: 15 - Earthborn Dire Troll - PC: 15 - Troll Axer - PC: 10
Troll Whelps - 5 Whelps: 0 Janissa Stonetide - PC: 0
Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes - Leader & 3 Grunts: 6 - Stone Scribe Elder - PC: 3
THEME: The Power of Dhunia ---
GENERATED : 04/04/2017 19:17:21 BUILD ID : 2038.17-03-15
I have to be more aggressive with doomy to get the most out of guardian protector, but when you get to use Mulg to crit slam a heavy away it's fun times.
Anyways, I'm looking for inspiration or some new tech to tryout. Doomy1 is quite fun as a weird control caster with his feat, and dissolution. Cyngar' junior does not like to see doomy1 across the board.

Great list and i like it! But i can see 1 problem looming ahead and that is Doomy1 going down against more ranged oriented list. I have been runing similar list but with Frosty the giant snowman to get those stationary hits going with guardian proc. Now to the actual "problem" i would consider using double shaman over unit of whelps and janissa as you dont have any ranged beast in your list. Assuming you lead with king you should get whelps to table to feed for other beasts and those double shamans should be able to cloud wall doomy1 to keep him safe when beasts go in. Wont help against Sloan or other bogeyman ranged lists but should give more game in general.

I've basically been all in on the grumpy old men of the faction since MK3 and Doomshaper1 is probably the one warlock I've run through the most iterations with in terms of list building. Current list I have uses a GK in a janky gimmick around guardian beast and a boosted P+S20 auto stationary with puppet master, there was a thread about it on the old faction forums. I'm pretty skeptical of it in terms of competitiveness, but is a cute list to play on occasion and it does ask your opponent some pretty hard questions. I haven't played it much due to focusing on doomshaper2 and Ragnor.
Doomshaper1 - Runebearer - Glacier King - Mulg - Mauler - Axer - Bouncer Shaman x 2 Krielstone min - Elder Dhunian Knot

Its a fun list that lets you do a number of things during the other players turn.

If they only have a 1" melee range you can also use the gk gun to push them out of melee, as guardian protector says melee or ranged attack.

Right, but in most scenarios you'll have to deal with the +4 def from the target model being in combat.
