Hey Y'ALL,
I've been having some fun games with the Karchev melee brick list shown below, but am wondering if it has any weaknesses I'm missing. Thoughts? Tweaks? Three Kodiaks are expensive relative to marauders, but pathfinder and those clouds have been really valuable. The Rager sucks, but having a shield guard helps with several matchups.
Also, what lost might you pair with it?
Thanks.

Looks like a good list to me! I've been running a karchev jack brick and pairing it with Irusk 2. S1 or OW might work well as well, just something to deal with infantry.

Irusk 2 is a good idea. Thanks.

Your list doesn’t suck. I like it. I played a lot of Karchev in 2017, and it’s sort of hard to go wrong with your list design if you’ve brought 8 heavies. The Kodiaks have game - pathfinder is gold here, and you pick up a lot of infantry clearing.
I don’t think you need the Rager. You can either hide Karchev behind Kodiak clouds or in a bunker behind the Devastators in the matchups you’re going to care about shooting. However, you need a unit for zone scoring. My one suggestion is to drop the Tinker and add a min unit of mechanics. You gain some utility in being able to repair multiple jacks (or threaten to repair, forcing your opponent to finish the job and not bank on a system being crippled). But also, you want the option of scoring. Other than that, if the list is working for you, go rock it.
If you drop a Kodiak (and not saying you should), I would swap that and a Rager out for a Destroyer to get in some shooting - probably putting it on one of the Forge Seers for the magic gun (gremlin swarms suck, and you might not want to waste the feat there) and POW 16 shots.
I used Butcher 3 as my pairing, and now that you can take A&H in several themes with him he can cover a lot of Karchev’s bad matchups. Definitely not your only answer, though.

I take:
karchev -2 juggs, 2 kodiaks, 2 maraurders, 2 forge seers, behemoth, 2 units of eliminators, WM marksman.
Kodiaks bring pathfinder and anti infantry with the cloud. Big B marshalled on a forge seers provides some much needed magical weapons and having 2 fully boosted pow16's is great!
I take the eliminators for scenario mainly and the also help to trigger R2W which you can struggle with sometimes.
I pair this with ow2 in WGK, double gun carriage fun.

I played a very similar list to the one above today (2 kodiaks, 2 juggs, etc but with Orin instead of 2x Eliminators) against Haley3 Gravediggers and it went fairly well. Its a lot of armour for her to deal with, even if my opponent wouldnt be taken aback by counter charge.
However, i dont think a typical Cygnar player would drop H3 into armour spam, if they have Nemo3...at which point id much rather take Harkevich. I dont know how Karchev or his army would survive that much pain.
Considering H3/N3 seem like a popular pair, I probably have to drop Karchev for Hark.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Armchair Warrior. Yes, I'm almost never sorry to have the Kodiaks. So versatile.
Interesting idea on getting rid of the Rager. Now that I think of it, the Rager doesn't really come into play most matches. At all. I stubbornly insist on taking it because I think of this as my all-comers list. There's some nasty shooting lists that I'm scared of. Mage Hunter strike force, Sloan and hunters... But I should maybe just take my other list against Ret and Cygnar? That's a tough decision.
