I'm a southern Connecticut warmahordes fan (Norwalk / Danbury at Battlegrounds / Gamers Gambit respectively) who fell away from the game when the new edition came out.
While I enjoy the other tabletop games I play, I really miss the open play atmosphere I first experienced. At Templecon several years ago. Competitive play is great, but I really love the social aspect and that "big tent" feel is one of the biggest strengths of the Warmahorde community.
So, on that note, I'm thinking of attending CaptainCon in Warwick, RI this February, and I'm completely uneducated about what faction/lists to bring. I'm only interested in the open play, so my question for you all is: What's a fun list or list pairing you would like to play against?
If it is also competitive, great, but my first concern is a fun game for myself and my opponent.
Anyway, thanks for any help, and I look forward to seeing you all there

Hi tradition, welcome back! It's honestly a pretty good time to be getting back in to the game; the balance is tighter than it's ever been and every CID so far has resulted in some really cool stuff, including complete redesigns of some of the less-used casters like Kraye and Madrak1. CaptainCon is also awesome, I missed last year (first one I've missed ) but I'll be there for the whole shebang this time around. What factions do you play? Most factions can field a pretty wide variety of good stuff but it's hard to say without knowing what you have access to.

If work permits I might try to spin by and see what its about, get some games in. It's basically in my backyard.

I own a bit of trolls, but it is honestly a blank slate. My flgs has good turn around times, so I've been doing some reading, but was just curious if there were any fun lists that popped to mind. If nothing comes of this, I'll probably just troll it, or cryx, because, you know, necromancer pirates.

I'll be at CC as well. If you're only interested in open play, bring whatever you find fun. As for things I'd like to play against - stay away from the current boogey-man lists (ex. ghost fleet) or hard skews (ex. all the khador jacks). I always enjoy playing against factions that are poorly represent in my local meta - it's fun playing against something other than Circle and Cygnar sometimes.

Borka2 in Northkin theme seems like a lot of fun, as does Kolgrima. I'm always a fan of the more esoteric casters so I'd love to see Doomy3 or Madrak3 on the table (three local trolls players and I've still never fought them )

I'm going too. Looking forward to Warmachine and a bunch of other games. I registered for the Neuroshima Hex tournament too because that sounds fun!

Thanks for the replies, that's exactly what I was trying to figure out since the meta seems to have changed so much from the initial Mk3 release.
I've got some decisions to make this week, and I'll let you know how it goes. In the meantime, additional thoughts and suggestions are certainly welcome.
