Hello, I’m just breaking into warmahordes, and cryx looks like the perfect place to setup my house... who doesn’t want to live in a zombie infested sea side? I’ve been reading up and looking at some units but still am not quite sure what units to start with.
I like quick units that can control the board through mobility, not sure if there is such a unit. An army that kind of controls and hinders your opponent is great too and I hear cryx is awesome at that, any idea who fits the bill?

Hello, I’m just breaking into warmahordes, and cryx looks like the perfect place to setup my house... who doesn’t want to live in a zombie infested sea side? I’ve been reading up and looking at some units but still am not quite sure what units to start with. I like quick units that can control the board through mobility, not sure if there is such a unit. An army that kind of controls and hinders your opponent is great too and I hear cryx is awesome at that, any idea who fits the bill? Cavalry, such as Soulhunters or Bane Riders usually, fit that bill. Cryx's staple fast disruption unit are Satyxis Raiders though. Especially with their command attachment, they are extremely resilient against shooting and their defense is high enough to be annoying to hit in melee as well. Casters/other utility models that boost up their defense even more, such as the mercenary Wrong Eye with his Star Crossed spell, Asphyxious the Hellbringer with his Cloak of Ash or even just Warwitch Deneghra/Witch Coven with their feats, make them even more of a nuisance. They don't necessarily need this extra help though, what they need the most help with is hitting hard, because they max out at P+S 11 with Gang. Iron Lich Asphyxious or Warwitch Deneghra, or really any caster with Parasite, can help them with this. Another option is just to rely on heavy warjacks in your army to do the beating while the Raiders just run interference. If you like them, check out the Scourge of the Broken Coast theme force, you can take Satyxis Raiders and additionally a unit of Satyxis Blood Witches gains Ambush which is also great for disrupting the enemy forces. If you don't like the Satyxis and prefer the undead, Witch Coven with two of either cavalry unit is very good at jamming your opponent out of the scenario as well. Warwitch Deneghra, Witch Coven and Scaverous are probably our best "control" casters, but Iron Lich Asphyxious is also very good at spot removal (and assassination) with his excellent spells, so could also fill a kind of control role.

Gamingdevil is correct, if it is fast and mobile you want, there are quite a few options.
The satyxis raiders and their command attachment the sea witch are the first thing in my mind and he is right, they lack in the hitting department but hit hard enough to kill anything short of warjacks. They have some knockdown tech, a 2" reach weapon, gang (that gives +2 to hit and damage when they are engaging something that is also engaged by another member of the unit).
An easy way to get started would be the battlebox with Bane Witch Agathia, which comes with Bane Witch Agathia, one of our casters who has an upkeep called parasite (-3 ARM to target model or unit) and she herself possesses darkshroud (-2 ARM to any enemy models in her melee range). She is a pretty basic warcaster, can help deliver troops, and can really swing some damage your way. You will also get enough warjacks in the box to fill out her warjack points. I forget what is in there, a Reaper, a Slayer and a Deathripper?
The satyxis are a good add on. If you are looking to play in a theme, the scourge of the broken coast is the satyxis theme and is pretty strong with its unit selection. The satyxis are getting a lot of new releases coming up in early 2018 and a lot of them have been retweaked from the CID process.
As has been pointed out, the different cavalry are faster than the satyxis and can probably hit harder and possible more accurately for a larger cost and less self defense. Again, if you are looking at themes, the soul hunters can only be taken in the infernal machines theme (thralls); and Bane Riders can only be taken in Dark Host theme (Banes). If you and your friends don't care about themes, go nuts! Play whatever you want and whatever you like the look of together. All the recommendations so far have been solid.

Or if you would rather, I guess privateer press has the MKII battleboxes on sale right now for 20 bucks. They were 10, that would have been an even better deal. That has Warwitch Deneghra (the best debuff caster in the game), a slayer (cheap fragile beater heavy warjack) and three arc node light jacks.
