The good kind of Lol ir the "you're so stupid lol" Well, I wouldn't say stupid, but it definitely lacks nuance. The Dark Ages are referred to as "dark" because: 1) The fall of the Roman Empire to barbarians which led to fracturing of Europe. 2) That fall and fracturing resulting in a lack of written records for centuries, or the scarcity of reading/writing skills in general. Of course Dark Ages is relative too. During that same time period the the Arab world was going through it's high point in regards to culture and influence. Separately, I am looking forward to Crucible Guard as a limited faction. I don't like Convergences rules or Grymkins models. I'm intrigued by jet packs and alchemical armor.

Yeah, the whole Catholics preventing advancement didn't happen until afterwards. The dark ages are known for the collapse of the WESTERN Roman Empire (the east was fine for another thousand years.) And the Islamic golden age was in the 600s under a unified Caliphate which didn't have too many external threats.
Its an oversimplification, but he's not that wrong.
