Hey Fellow Necros 2018 is going to be the year of the Cryx. However I have bought a house, married a wife, and bought a dog, so I have less time and Money than ever before! As such I really want to reduce all my factions to a max of three lists (likely in theme) I am new to Cryx, and look for list ideas that when paired cover most bases So I can make, paint and shelf an army that when used has a reasonable chance of standing up at local Tments and games nights I love the idea of Pirates, Dead skin Cav and Jacks. So figured those would likely end up my three themes... but you know... im new. I would love some list recs based on current Meta / game play that are fun and competitive, to give me an idea of purchase order and minimise unnecessary purchase and time wasted on shelved models (My main faction, Circle has sooo many models painted, that have never seen table time) Thanks everyone! - Will

Well I would probably go with dark host, scourge of the broken coast and black industries, that would be banes, satyxis ans jacks respectively.
Not specific lists but just some things you will have to take a look at to make your own lists acording to your style
To begin with mkiii two players box comes with cryx, so buying 2 of those and selling the cygnar part is a really cheap way of getting a lot (4 heavy jacks, 2 arc nodes and 20 bane warriors) Add 2 crabjacks (leviathan/harrower/desecrator) (and magnitize them) and you have a good part for 2 lists already
For dark host: Casters:gaspy2, goreshade 2 or 3, scaverous, skarre1 or coven 2x max bane warriors both with free UA 1x max bane knights Wraith engine Bane lord tartarus Depending on the caster 2 deathrippers and a desecrator or double desecrator, or some stalkers Darragh wrathe and bane riders can also be good additions (If playing goreshade 2 then you need scrap thralls)
Black industries: Casters: Mortenebra 1 or 2, denny 2 (CID), venethrax, aiakos 2, goreshade 1 2xslayers 2xreapers 2xcrabjacks Some stalkers Withershadow combine, 2x warwitch sirens, some necrotechs For the free lights best choices are ripjaws, scavengers or defilers You can also consider seethers/inflictors and Iron litch overseers; and also aiakos 1
Scourge of the broken coast: Casters: denny 1, skarre 2 or 3, Gaspy 1 2x max satyxis raiders with sea witch 1x max satyxis blood witches with blood hag And then add some combinations of axiara, severa, another unit of blood witches and gunslingers Also take a look at the bloodpriestess and the misery cage Jacks: some nodes and whatever you feel fits

Welcome Knightish, congratulations on the wife and house. I feel your wallet pain.
To be honest any of our themes can be made competitive (well slaughter fleet raiders needs some releases to be made so, but can still work if you like those models). But seriously, Look at the different themes and the models associated with them. Our most powerful/competitive theme is probably Dark Host. I mean even I can win with it, which says something. Infernal Machines is also very versatile and can be built a number of ways. Both of those themes allow cavalry.
Is there anything you currently own or a warcaster you are particularly taken with? We have been populating a thread called Warcasters and Theme forces, I would recommend looking at that to get an idea of what the different casters do and how they interact with a theme and what different units go with the theme and how they perform.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have decided to start with: Goreshade 1, Venethrax & Covern as the first 3, with Gaspy 3 & Scavorous in the wings Cryx has soo many amazing casters its so hard to choose. Trying to Balance cool models, with Cool rules. Gonna need to convert the Covern girls and do a bit of possing action with Vene. Dark Host, Jacks, not sure who Covern runs best.

The coven needs a force that can get the work done, so either a mixed arms group of jacks and a few good units or banes and 1-2 good jacks with a few arc nodes. The coven excel at delivering your army and getting them where you want them to go. You are going to need banes anyhow for goreshade's feat and you will want a lot of jacks for Venethrax and his terminal velocity spell. Sounds like a good pairing and the coven can take the place of either one and run it well.

"Married a wife" makes it sound like she was a wife even before the marriage. Like "Married an asian" or "Married a doctor".
