So I just bought a box of striders/blades. I had striders and before they arrived, I found a unit of strider/blades in my unassembled stuff.
So do you ever find the need for more than one of either these days? I barely see lists with units at all since oracles hit.

Striders are great at killing idrian skirmishers, reeves, feral brigands, trenchers and units with dig in as they ignore cover/concealment. They are a specialized single wound low armor killing unit. They also can spread out with the ua and make great jammers especially with fyanna 2 or bethayne.
Blightblades can jam well and harrass back lines with ambush. They also benifit from cma and can deal with high def low arm jammers. I usually put them in if i dont have room for the strider ua.
Both units have their own merits.

I'm aware they have merits, question is whether I need two of either. Currently have one of each and just accidentally ordered another box.

With bethayne they make a good unit to cycle bloodthorn. A guy in my meta tears up high arm single wound infantry with them. Most the time i run one unit myself.

I have my 3rd box part built, unable to decide if I want 2. I don't think I need 2 units of Scouts - I think 2 units of blight blades would be good - if the only theme you can run them in didn't make groteques ambush too.
I remain undecided.

The only place I'd consider running multiple strider units would be Ravens lists, probably one of each. If I ever did two of a single type of striders it would always be Blightblades. A single unit of Scouts doesn't do a lot other than pick of average defense infantry and then jam hard usually, so you don't really need to do that twice. So I'd make two Blights and one Scouts - in RoW that's a lot of fast, high DEF jamming infantry, and two of them Ambush alongside your Raiders. That's pretty much the only situation I'd do that in though, so hope you like that particular list/theme/style.

I want a list where 2 Blightblades really work. I haven't made one I like yet.. I worry that pow9 will not get me far enough. Mind you, 1 unit is great for getting those support figures that you usually just can't reach.

My top place to consider double Blights would be Kallus2, with Incubi backing them. Normally, I prefer to run him a little heavier on the battlegroup with a single Scout+UA module as jam. Strider models make great candidates for Blazing Path as they're fast, high DEF, stealth models. If they jam in, either the enemy whiffs and is set on fire, or they score a hit and Incubi pop out and set them on fire instead. There are ways to counter it, but I feel they're the most reliable way to do this and I've had a pretty decent amount of success. As far as delivery, Scouts specifically can spread out to avoid deviating blast, and Blightblades can stay off the table until you're ready to use them.
So anyways the point is I could see the merit in two units of Blightblades under Kallus2 with a focus on Battle Lust instead of Overrun. CMA with two attacks and Battle Lust could theoretically do a decent bit of damage, and Ambush gets them into really uncomfortable positions for the enemy, moreso with two to threaten each table edge. The trouble is I feel like when you're playing with Ambush models you've really got to go first, which you can't always gaurantee. Outside of this you could go full Ambush and do something like a Lylyth1 RoW theme with 2 units of Blights and one Raider unit - 22 amushers, 12 with CMA POW9(+3 for parasite) and the others POW15 if they're ganging. Haven't tried it but a Legion player at my game store ran something to that effect and it looked really annoying to handle for the other guy, though I don't recall the actual outcome of the match.

Mind you, 1 unit is great for getting those support figures that you usually just can't reach. They could work with Bethayne in Ravens theme. What you get is 12 ambushing weaponmasters on Feat turn with CMA. Outside of Feat they kill infantry and solos dead and can make a dent in heavy (2* Pow 16 attacks). Very cost effective. Ambush help them escape e-leaps and blasts which are their main enemy. Take Blight Wasps as Feat enablers.

I didn't consider Beth... though would her control range be large enough to get them in the effect? But I do like two swings with +2mat/+weapon die for damage - that's just bonkers. I'll see if I can't proxy and try!

With Vayl1 two units can really jam hard on feat turn reaching 24" from either table edge. I like to clear out the opponents front lines and then jam, jam, jam. At def 15 they are really hard to remove.
