Company of Iron:
Out of the gate review, haven’t seen advanced rules nor have I seen the command cards… Assuming Beast warden is like jack marshall with a way to cast animus.
Casting na animus requires an action on from the beast warden, so your general does nothing to get the animus going... ouch.
Warbeasts:
We lack very tough beasts that could perhaps withstand being charged or shot. This feels very circly.
Moonhound Argus: Stealth Solution and RAT bonus… for ~25% of the army sounds like a lot but I feel this needs game experience to evaluate.
Gorax: Pain response allows him to charge for free and use crush or strike true + a possible primal to be a very heavy hitter.
Razorwing: Costs 1 requisition point, I guess it’s because he tramples. Given that cards give boosts and/or additional dice I don’t see it yet.
Scarsfell: 1 requisition point as well, Stealth, 3 initials and dodge. If a combat light makes it I think this will be it… even with ARM 13.
Wild Argus: Great animus, 2 attacks… MAT 5 sounds really bad but if he doesn’t get to buy attacks but can charge and cast his animus then he is mat not-snakes.
Winter Argus: Can he boost his rat by a mile? He can go to RAT 6. mmm.....
Woldwatcher: The rules says: "warbeast that is in the command range of its beast warden can perform any one action on its stat card that would require it to be forced.". Does this inlude stone form?
WoldWyrd: Pretty sure he’ll be good. ROF 3 and RAT 6 is probably enough. Is 9pts that much? Is he worth 6/7 guys? Right now, I’d say yes.
Units:
Death Wolves: The injury roll looks like a Female Dog for them. Don't believe they are worth it. Is prowl that good?
Druids of Orboros: 16 points for RAT 6 attacks… If you see Sacred Ward you’re Firetrucked. Perhaps fair since you have it as well
Reeves: Too expensive, too low pow? Depends on the adversary I guess… Not convinced but they cost a requisition point.
Woldstalkers: 10 pts for 5 shots… are the abilities enough? How will the cards affect them?
Blood pack: Riiight. Requisition? Lol? Or Lol on me? Kill a guy and only 33% of getting a corpse is really bad. bad bad bad.
Bloodtrackers: Look amazing. Outthreat most stuff, hit well enough. Expensive. Nualla is a good commander? Requisition on both makes sense.
Bloodweavers: Fast Stealth looks really good. Pity you can’t take 2?
Ravagers: No requisition cost? Sad face. Face sad. Chieftain costs 1 requisition… yay? Kill a guy and only 33% of getting a corpse is really bad. bad bad bad.
Skinwalkers: 2 requisition points? The 0 cost stormblades from the box will demolish them if they charge… Perhaps they can do a cover formation to let the back guys heal once and then steap ahead? Would be cool to put big wolves in play.
WoO: min unit gives you 6 guys for 7 points that charge 11” with MAT 8 POW 9… and they give you a requisition point? What am I missing despite victim stats?
Solos:
Stoneshaper: Good combo with the wolds and a nice spray. Will be sure to play if wolds play. +1 requisition point.
Wayfarer: Great spray, dead spell and hunter’s mark. MAT 7 charge will battle wizard.
Night Witch: Looks awesome. Costs requisition. Check! Grievous looks like enough reason to play them.
LotF: Great stats until he gets hit then DEF 12 will probably doom him. Stealth not enough to put him into play. No requisition cost confirms it for me.
Reeve Hunter: pew pew and pew and pew and pew and didn’t break armour. His victim stats won’t help and his synergy with reeves isn’t great. Plz make me be wrong.
Shaman: Expensive but has no KD to give to tough guys + lightning + magic weapons probably makes him good.
White mane: No requisition cost makes me sad for corpse tokens. Kill a guy and only 33% of getting a corpse is really bad. bad bad bad.
War Wolf: If awesome => Reeve hunter happy. If not… is their cost low enough?
I can’t see great synergies, veteran leader and no great character solos… I see trackers or Wyrds… Perhaps a few others once we see the adanced rules.
Any ideas on how we fight very developed themes with strong characters than can probably make a list?
