I know I'm putting the cart in front of the horse here, but I love the Azrael model so got it. Its the only legion piece I have so far (I play skorne) and I am on a bit of a budget, but I would like some help starting a legion army based around Azrael. I read battlecollege before it went down, so I know a bit on his abilities and which casters support him. However, I would really like some feedback on actaul experience using him and maybe some sample lists. Thanks

Kryssa is bonded with him, so you can bring him in themes that are not Children of thr Dragon. Her battle box is also very ncie to start a legion army. As for playstyle, she can give him reposition, which helps keep him safe and out fo threat range after he throws spears at heavies. Her feat also gives a STR bonus that applies to his ranged weapon too, as it is thrown. Another really good caster would be Thagrosh 1. He can revive Azrael with his feat, he can give a STR buff too, and every turn, and he can give him concealment with Fog of War to keep im safer at range. Of course, with Thagrosh you could currently only play him in the Childrens theme ... If you are looking for lists with Azrael, just look at basically any Children theme list

Thagrosh1. Draconic Blessing lets Azrael throw spears at POW19 every turn rather than relying on Kryssa's Feat for the damage buff. Death Shroud brings Azrael up to effective ARM20 against melee attacks, 22 if you're playing in Children of the Dragon due to the Unyielding benefit. You can also bring Az back with your feat if necessary. Out of all the casters I've tried Azrael with so far Thagrosh1 has been my favorite.

Vayl1. Incite and leash are both great. Also kryssa . Edit: Azrael is basically integral to the theme "Children of the Dragon." Hes a really solid piece. Nearly anyone who plays CotD will use Azrael. My Vayl1 CotD is: Vayl1 Azrael Zuriel Bloodseer Bloodseer Eilish Craelix* Archers w/CA Swordsmen w/CA* Blackfrost Shard

How about Lylyth1? She can parasite target's from 16" out. That's Kryssa's feat, all day, every day.

Azreal is in the discussion for best model in legion. I honestly think that he is great no matter what caster you're using. I like him with Thags (1 or 2), Kryssa, Lylyth(any) or Kallus2. He's not particularly amazing with Rhyas or Saeryn, and I'm not keen on him with Fyanna but he can definitely still work in their lists if you want him to.

Just found the children of the dragon thread and there are a ton of lists there that includes him. Opinion does seem to be he is one of, if not the best legion beast so it seems I started with a good model. For now I will be using Thagrosh 1 and 2 because thats what my friend has and Ill be using his models for now. I have heard mix reviews about his bonded warlock, Kryssa, anyone have any experience or tips for her? Is she useable? It would be cool to use him in other themes.

Kryssa is playable but she's among the least popular Warlocks in Legion. She just isn't very interesting.

I'm a fan of Kryssa, but in general she's somewhat underwhelming to play. I definitely think she's best in a melee focused infantry list using beasts as ranged support. I'm sort of toying with a Primal terrors list with Kryssa, Azreal, Blightbringer and 2x warspears. I've had success with her in the past as well playing in CotD with 2x Beast mistresses and swordsmen.

Pre themes I played Azrael with Vayl2. He is amazing target for admonition. Only pow 17 with her but such pain to remove. Now I'm also for Thagrosh1. I play him in CotD often and they work nice toogether. Naga in CotD and its my main list

Bit of topic, but I really like Kryssa in Oracles. Ashen veil is great with hexhunters+shadowbind, the beastmistress-pack absolutely loves the feat, the pot wants tactical supremacy turn one (I switch it to azrael thereafter) who has a solid bond with her and loves the seraph, as does the blackfrost shard for kissing 20" up the field (apparition ability) and pretty much everyone else. I think she makes excellent use of everything that theme has to offer and for that reason alone I like her. Speed 5 is something I'd like to see differently, but I guess she has her movementthingy for that.
In fact I can see her do well in childeren and terrors as well because her feat is great, ashen veil is awesome with anything that wants to engage, her spray is as fantastic as mandatory nukes come (bring some martyrs) and who would mind having tactical supremacy? I want to use all of her abilities allways and while yes, she may not be super exciting like the twins going at it, that's a good place to be for a caster.
Azrael's mini is so awesome I just want to bring him allways, and luckily he is that solid it's not a terrible idea with most casters. With kryssa liking 3 out of 4 themes well enough (or all? Haven't looked too much into ravens tbh) I think she is a good place for you and Azrael to start delving into Legion.
You need the battlebox for her model though, and none of those models are a nobrainer by any means. Great if you decide to really get into legion (some casters need that boltthrower and neraphs are a solid 12 point beatstick with gravy) but for kryssa I like the shredders best and that says something.

imho is Azrael versatile enough to be played with many different casters. Of course he prefers some kind of buff, but it's not mandatory. The better question would be: "Does he fit into my list?" Because he's not cheap and not every list might work perfect with such a point investment.

I'm thinking of looking for Kryssa on ebay since none of the other battle box models are something I want/need right now. I'm going to stick with Kryssa for now so I can use Azrael in all the themes and see what I like. From what I have gathered by reading online, Oracles is the only theme really worth using, but the others can be fun. I might wait on getting everything else until the models for Primal Terros theme comes out. My 2nd favortie legion model is Blightbringer, so primal terrors seems like a solid start for what I am interested in.

The fact that oracles is so populair has more to do with the fact that people were used to playing very beast heavy legion in mk1 and 2. Oracles was the only theme that allowed for all the beasts before terrors so naturally people were drawn to that and get four free solos as well.
Both childeren and ravens are very restricted in that regard and don't sport the most populair beasts. That turns people off.
There are plenty of interesting lists to be made in all themes, but people tend to get stuck in their ways (which is often more true where internet wisdom is concerned). Hardly anyone thought ghostfleet was any good at first, and then a couple people showed everybody wrong.
