I created a joke list that I inadvertently fell in love with, now I want to see what feedback can make this better. What better place to go than here?
Nareesh Spam
Theme: DOA
Nareesh 6x Cyclops Savage 1x Cyclops Shaman 1x Titan Gladiator 1x Battle Boar
1x Mortitheurge Willbreaker (free) 1x Bloodrunner Master tormentor Max unit Nihilators Max Paingivers 1x Bloodrunners (ambushing)
This list was a lot of fun, getting a cyclops up to ps 20 (13 base, +2 from enrage, +2 from primal, +3 Feat) and having several different vectors of attack was really useful. Nihilators worked as a screen to get into position and threat scenario. Bloodrunners ambushing is nice for threatening the backline. In my actual game I didnt get to go all out with throwing primal on everything, but I did get to primal 2 on feat turn for some very powerful attacks.
I thought I was going to need the willbreaker more than i did, with puppet master not being needed with the future sight on the savages, and the control range wasnt as big a deal as nareesh was pretty centrally located. But further testing might be necessary. What sorts of changes would you make? any other interesting minion beasts to utilize? (my next DOA is going to feature mammoth, splatter boar, and 2 ambush units to try to box my opponents in)

I don't have the parts for it yet, but this is the goofy one I want to try.
Naaresh Archidon x4 Razor Wurm x2 Shaman x2 Battle Boar Rhinodon
PGBH Max (x2) Willbreaker
I thought Cyclops spam would be fun too, but no Pathfinder is a problem. Rush conflicts with Primal, so I needed native movement and speed on the cheap.
Fun thing is Primal is amazing on Wurms and Wings. Sprint can be cast after Primal (you'll still frenzy buy who cares on a fire and forgey missile.) At +3 ARM, you could even Sprint over their lines, creating a free strike problem in the back ranks. Razor Wurms can cause similar problems. Rhinodon does late game cleanup.
Don't have the parts, and can't proxy. If anyone wants to try this janky BS and share, love to heat about it.

I'd love to play that but no one is coming off of their archidons. I could see value you picking up extras.

This is tue list I came up with, dont have all the parts yet either. Not sure if I will keep the bloodrunners or exchange them for another raider. The idea is to have some shooting for a turn or two before turning all the raiders in to decent beatsticks with primals and Naaresh's fear. The archidons are there for early pressure, probably wont survive long, but then the raiders move in to clean things up.
Skorne 50pt Disciples of Agony Theme Force Naaresh (+32) Battle Boar (-7) Shaman (-8) Shaman (-8) Archidon (-10) Archidon (-10) Raider (-9) Raider (-9) Min Beast Handlers (-5) Min Beast Handlers (-5) Bloodrunners (-9) Bellows Crew (-2) Master Tormentor (free) Total: 83pts

Here's what I've been doing, there's probably a better way to go about it, and I miss opportunity for bloodrunners in the list. If I were to revisit this list, I'd like to find room for a drake in order to give Naaresh pathfinder to help with assassination runs. Maybe I'll try that sometime soon!

Drake for Pathfinder.... Brilliant! I hadn't even considered that. In fact I forgot bushwhack gave Pathfinder!

Drake for Pathfinder.... Brilliant! I hadn't even considered that. In fact I forgot bushwhack gave Pathfinder! Ya, im gonna need to add a Drake in my list now too. Sprint works well when he needs to clear infantry and move out of the way, but pathfinder will make assassinations that much easier.

It's not great all the time, but when you need it... you want it. Also if you bring a drake and have a krea in this theme the potential for Pow 19-20 flank attacks is hilarious (Enrage+Primal/Rage+Feat)

With the terrain in SR17, a lack of Pathfinder will screw you. Archidons are the way to go. I like a pair of Razor Wurms too, but if you don't have it on every worker beast, you are in trouble.

God I wish I owned 6 archidons. I'd run mordikaar more if I did. I'll need to test out some proxy games I think

Aye, I only own three of the things myself, though they are magnificent! Though in my experience the comment that SR 2017 needs EVERY non-support beast to have pathfinder might be a tad overboard. It's certainly something that you want to have a plan for though!

I think that's probably a good idea to aspire to though. I'm trying to get my play group out of super casual and into Sr play, so I should probably share these thoughts with them. I imagine that's true for other factions. We probably need even more terrian too.

There are quite a few things SR (particularly SR 2017) ask of you strategically that more casual styles of warmachine (Caster Kill / Prime book scenarios etc) do not, so it can take a little getting used to at times. That being said, one of my favourite things to come out of SR 2017 is the terrain placement rules. I tend to use them even when not playing SR these days! Playing around terrain just feels like it adds so much strategic depth!
