Hi all, Been out of the game since the release of MK3. At the time it felt too messy and wasn't for me, (still not a fan of premeasring) but heard good things about where the game is at right now and decided I'd jump back in. Legion is my faction choice this time and though I have done them before I feel like a total noob again given everything has changed. I know the current feeling is 'be in theme or lose' and I have a competitive group. So with that, which theme is a good one to start with? I used to like taking janky stuff and trying to make it work like MK2 Rhyas1 with double porting thrones, combined with a solid all rounder that could meet most foes. I imagine that can't be the case now with the themese? Any advice is graciously accepted Cheers

Possibly not much of advice, but I'm sort of in the same situation as you. I've gone back and forth theorycrafting lists, but I really find it hard to come up with something without having tried anything first. So I followed the advice from Warmachinist (in the batrep below): I decided not to reinvent the wheel and went for a list I found on Discount Games (well, I tweaked it a bit). I'll start there and move forward once I develop a bit more feel for how MK III Legion plays. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vd66DW6B6lEOf course you could proxy and try things out a bit first, but, that's just too boring for me.

I think the easiest start is probably Oracles. You can max beasts and get support solos for free. Your infantry choices are however limited to hex hunters, BFS and spawning vessel, but they all really like the apparition theme bonus.

If you have Rhyas with 2 Thrones... you can run that in Oracles and still bet the free point benefits. I haven't tried a list like that yet but in theory it should still work the same, but you'll lack swordmen. I've enjoyed apparition with BFS, I have found it very useful so far.
Oh, and Oracle apparition works on Blight Wasps too just as an FYI.

Don't own any models yet though the Thagrosh Army box has just been purchased (though mainly because its a good deal, not because I have to use all those models in my lists) Oracles sounds like the way to go. Cheers
