What makes a model worth its points? From what I've seen, most people go for a "that feels right" approach, but whats the actual mathematical approach to a models pricing? I.E pathfinder = +2 PC. Eyeless sight = +4 PC. X Immunity = +5 PC
Obviously the above numbers are a bit random, just using them as an example.

I'm 99% sure PP uses 'that feels right' because no rigid system would allow for the kinds of glaring obvious balances issues they've had in just this edition before.
As for how it SHOULD be, I feel that for a wargame, they should be picking a 'main' model/unit in every major role (melee heavy, ranged heavy, cheap basic unit, elite infantry, etc), pricing them to exacting detail, and then balancing every other similar model/unit against that model/unit with slight fluctuations in price and rules depending on how far away they want it to be. I'm sure PP currently does balance models against each other, but I'm not sure they have a central anchor to balance everything against.

Would you price a MAT of 6 the same across warlocks, warcasters, jacks, beasts, solos, units, battle engines, and attachments?
Would the power of the weapon, the number of available attacks, the weapon effects, or available faction buffs affect the cost of the MAT?

I remember reading during the transition that, at least for Cryx, the Slayer was the basis on which they costed their other jacks. However, I don't think this translates across factions due to differences in focus. In addition, certain key pieces may be undercosted and the faction balanced with the assumption that it'll almost always be present, such as Kriel stone and Choir.

To clarify my post above, I mean this should be done for each faction. IE base all cygnar heavies off the ironclad, cryx heavies off the slayer, khador heavies off the juggernaut, etc.

PP stated, like chinaman mentioned, that they use a "vanilla" version (especially with jacks/beasts) and work from there for other pieces. But there definitly is no exact formula behind it and to be honest... it wouldn't work well if they had one anyway.
