I really don't like Bone Grinders as they are now. I fight melee beasts in maybe 1/5 of my games and they're pretty useless in the other games. I'd love to see them get a (thematic!) overhaul.

I had a 40 person tournament on the weekend. There were 8 Skorne players that I can think of from the top of my head, compared to three each of Cryx and Cygnar. If I want an easy time at a tournament I bring Bone Grinders

I bring one unit Every once in awhile. To increase range of TK and to charge almost dead warbeasts.

Those are the only Skorne 'heavies' I've seen since they broke the animantrax. Oh they are reasonable to help against Makeda2 though.

Bone grinders don't work on animantraxes and struggle to hit archidons though... Those are the only Skorne 'heavies' I've seen since they broke the animantrax. Oh they are reasonable to help against Makeda2 though. They're still P+S 12 Weapon Masters when they need to be, a max unit does something like 36 damage to an Animantarax under those circumstances and there's plenty of non-Bone Grinder models to get some chip damage in before that. And I've never had a problem with hitting Archidons. Even if I can't risk Cursing them (and it's amazing how often you can afford to when you're going to erase every model in the area or cripple them and prevent healing) I can just toss Death March on a unit and reliably kill an Archidon that way. Makeda1 as well as Makeda2. Not to mention being generically useful to counter the effects of Mortitheurges. When you have this many Skorne players in a meta, you'd be amazed at how many of them run different Warlocks and different lists. I've just double-checked and it was 9 Skorne players, with 12 different Warlocks between them. It's a crazy deep faction and I see way, way more than just Archidons and Animantaraxes. You dropped Ark into Skorne. Don't lie. Hey man, I won two tournaments in a row by bringing Midas teched specifically as an anti-Hordes (anti-Skorne) list and Arkadius to handle everything else. In both those tournaments I played Arkadius once. There's no way in hell that would work in a normal meta, I'll concede, but the ridiculous Hordes skew locally makes it a pretty valid tactic
