I must have been living under a rock (or in a swamp) but just noticed That Barneys swamp pit is an upkeep spell now - so only a single pit and he doesn't NEED to move out of it every turn (though likely will.)
I just want to check that I am correct in thinking that since the Swamp pit is placed in the control range it doesn't stop him having Warpath up? and as it can't be targeted it can't be removed via upkeep stripping?

If you hit Barney with an effect that forces him to drop upkeeps then he will lose his swamp pit. If you are talking about rebuke then no, he will not lose the pit since it is not on him. If you are hit by purification or another anti upkeep AoE then if the pit is in the AoE it is gone regardless of whether Barney is in the AoE or not.

So is the swamp pit an active upkeep spell centred on Barnabas then? Thus he can't have Warpath up at the same time? now even more confused.

They just can't be on the same model/unit. Swamp pit is not on a model/unit which means he can have it and warpath in play at the same time.

cheers Flogger - sorry if sounding dumb but just want to make sure doing things correctly as could be quite important come a tournament.
So warpath is a Self upkeep so he has it on self, complete with token indicating it's presence. Death Pact put on a unit so token goes with them indicating they have it. Swamp pit - placed on the ground so no token (as you know it itself is a 5" template)
So If Barnabas is hit by an upkeep removal spell - say Hex Blast.
Warpath would go as it is on him, Death pact would be safe as it is on a different unit completly - Swamp pit would....stay? as it is also somewhere else?
Also now certain you can only have 1 swamp pit at a time - correct.

I think it's a YES to all your questions.

Yes, you have the correct answers to your question. Swamp pit isn't affected for the same reason that Death Pact is unaffected, the spell is not on Barney himself but on a part of the board. If you go to the PP website's rules forum you can compare rock wall with swamp pit and see how dispels do or do not effect it.
