So with the release of all our new themes and Xerxis1 popping up in a lot of list for both our exalted theme and in Masters of War. Of course with Xerxis a lot of people are taking his character beast Tiberion and at time even taking him without Xerxis as Tiberion is includes in Masters of War. When making lists I find my self asking is Tiberion worth it for his points cost.
At 22 points he is the most expensive heavy beast in our faction and to me it seems that his cheaper alternatives do all the work that he does for less. A Bronzeback at 18 can do as much damage and Tiberion, going one step farther down in points an Ardus soldier can do a comparable amount of damage for 6 points less and has the carapace rule. If your just looking for durability you could drop as far down as a titan Sentry who is a meer 15 points a who 7 points cheaper. If you go with the Sentry or the soldier you can include either an agonizer of krea in your list.
So whats so good about him verse these other beast that make him worth the 4-7 more points, aside from his new sculpt which is beautiful?

I think many people have come to the same conclusion that unless you have a very specific purpose for him, he's overcosted. The one thing I think he brings that can't be replaced is his Immovable Object rule. If your scheme absolutely needs to have an anchor, he can do it better than anything. Aside from that, you're probably better off with a Titan of some kind and points on the side.

There's also the mental side. Tibbs intimidates enemies, forces them to overcommit or try to avoid him.

I don't run tiberion all that often, but I never regret taking him. He is a force to be reckoned with, taking an absolute punishing and is immune to a lot of the ways people have of circumventing roadblocks. That said I think I've only ever taken him in lists that can increase his already impressive survivability. I also don't think he has ever actually died in a game, but that isn't to say my caster didn't take a dirt nap.
Try him in zaal1, xerxis, and rasheth I think you'll enjoy him. I don't own zadeesh2 but I imagine he is good there too.

I vote for worth it. You can count on him. He just ignores a lot of the "neuter big point sink" tech. I have yet to get use out of her Animus though

"I've used it when someone is engaging my warlock and he needs to be elsewhere. Bump them out, then walk the other way. Done it on Tibbs himself too." It's Irresistible Force now, Bulldoze effect. Still situational tech, though nice from time to time. Probably better than Bump. The biggest difference between MKII and MKIII in how he plays is that he can now do Overtake and Beat-Back movements. Makes him much more interesting in a Makeda3 list, though still a massive point sink.

Bump was a word choice, could have easily been push, which would be more accurate as a game term, but less...succulent... Anyway, I was talking Bulldoze.

I feel he has a place when you can speed up more than you can increase hitting. So X1&X2, Mak1, Morg1 (and Jalaam once hes out). Else its just impossible to get that many points out of him.

I've considered him with Makeda3 but haven't tried it yet. If I understand the interactions, with Beat-Back animus and Overtake, feat turn could be really silly. Hit a heavy but don't destroy and advance, destroy and advance. Fun, but not good. Molik Karn can do it better most times, and if my battlegroup is Tibbs, Molik, a BB, and a Gladiator, I'm already likely almost out of points.

Tiberion is a large base Gargantuan. Well worth the 7 points above a Sentry if you are trying to condense fury/model count. Since I have issues with death clock, If my fury management can afford the Sentry/Agonizer combo plus other beasts, I still would only do that over Tiberion if my caster had something to add to the equation (additional ARM boost, MAT boost, etc.). But if My caster doesn't want to have to support a heavy, Tiberion is a prime candidate. Since owning him, I him him with 4, sometimes 5 casters: Naaresh, Xerxis 1 & 2, Mordikaar, and sometimes Zaadesh 2 (him in IW theme now is just Wow).
Notable awesome bits, MAT 7 base, Bulldoze and some form of speed boost can pull out some fancy assassinations on casters. The Tetsubo is something impressive. No knockdown or moving is a strong anchor, and cheap enough to take with another Gargantuan if wanted. As an illustration, mosts lists want at least one shield guard, In descending order in cost (and power) we have: Tiberion, Sentry, Cyclops Brute, Ogrund Bokur, and Makeda1/themes.
