Some time ago I was able to get quite a lot of Cryx for an extremely low price. I am however a total 'noob' to the game and would not know what lists would be fitting with this collection of models. Of course, you learn the game best through just getting a huge amount of games in, but I would like to hear your opinions on niche combinations within my model set and what could be the best lists to learn the game whilst still being not totally pillow-fisted. So far, I have had a couple of games with Deneghra, Skarre 1 and Scaverous, and out of the three I like the playstyle of Scaverous the most as I feel like its a little less point-and-click then Deneghra and Skarre. So, here's the list of models I have now:
Deneghra 1 Skarre 1 Skarre 2 Scaverous Lich Lord Asphyxious Terminus
Mechanithralls (10) Bile thralls (16) Bane Warriors (10+UA) Soul Hunters (5) Necrosurgeon + Stitch Thralls
Withershadow Combine Skarlock Thrall
Aiakos, Scourge of the Meridus Darragh Wrathe Warwitch Siren Pistol Wraith Necrotech + Scrap Thralls (6) Satyxis Raider Captain Soul Trapper (2) Bloat Thrall (2)
Deathripper (5) Defiler Scavenger (2) Stalker (2)
Slayer Reaper Erebus Nightmare Cankerworm Harrower (2) Desecrator Leviathan Deathjack
I have the feeling that with this I should be possible to build some nice lists and am still willing to buy some additional models, but not anything costing more than about $50,- What are your thoughts?

I feel like this would be fun if you added a unit of raiders.
You have insane speed and a good defense skew and a lot of people struggle to mentally deal with both the mega fast reach infantry and the heavier jacks behind them. You could alternatively drop the raider captain and add a sea witch + soul trapper . I play a similar list with Asphyxious 3 that has a lot of success applying assasination threat and scenario pressure.

You have the makings of a really good Infernal Machines (theme) list with all the thralls that you have and someone like Terminus or Skarre 1 would run it really well. Put in as many thralls as you want to get free points, take necrosurgeon as free, then fill in whatever jacks you want. Tough recurring mechanithralls can be hard for some lists to deal with. Or Skarre turns any of the lowly thralls into accurate and deadly missiles for a turn. I cant say too much about Scaverous as I have yet to use him in MKIII. But with telekinesis and the ability to spam his own spells accurately, he had a lot of really good options for almost anything.

Thanks for your ideas! I like the looks of this very quick (though probably vulnerable) scaverouslist, but still wondered; could it also work with a unit of McThralls and Darragh Wrathe instead of the raiders? Would the thralls be fast enough and would not the wrathe provide some protection through his mortal fear? On the infernal machines; I don't really see how this would be supposed to work, the only thralls I have are the McThralls and bile thralls, right? And then I don't have any spare McThrall models to recurse into them... I believe I'm missing something here.

Soul hunters are also considered thralls and count toward free points. Though I guess you don't have brute thralls which would be a good reason to bring mechanithralls, and the skarlock commander for giving the biles advanced deploy to make sure they go after their chosen prey. So without that support, you are probably right, the infernal machines list wouldn't be all that. I would still find it fun, but probably not competitive.
