I dont think character jacks with bond will be allowed in any TF... (Meaning with other casters that arent their bonds)

Only heavies get Carapace, and I don't think you'd get Unyielding against free strikes. Crabjacks who really stand up to counter-shooting will love this, and Slayer/Seether spam seems very solid. oh. well youre still in combat so why wouldnt you?

keep note that only 30 pts of heavies gives you free bone jacks. so you cant take 4 stalkers to get a arc node. What's your source on this? Only heavies get carapace but it appears all jacks count towards free points From the insider: "For every full 30 points of warjacks in this army, you can add one Cryx warjack with a point cost of 7 or less to the army free of cost."

Unyielding isn't just "in combat," sadly--it's only when your model is engaging the enemy. When you're moving away from an enemy, you'll be facing away, so you won't be engaging them. This is also a problem for when enemies with longer reach engage models with shorter reach, e.g. a Slayer won't get Unyielding against an enemy Inflictor 2" away.

Because unyielding doesn't care about being in combat, only whether the unyielding model is engaging its target at that moment which is unlikely on a free strike but is possible when you've got more reach than the thing freestriking you. Free strikes are always considered to be from the back arc, but I don't think that prevents the model from engaging and getting unyielding off other models, etc, if the positioning is correct. Playing the adjust facing>move in the direction you're facing>adjust facing to turn>keep moving order of operations accurately is important to resolve that right.

There was a post in last CID cycle where they said that maybe it will change to 'while engaged or engaging"

Are colossals considered heavies in order for them to get carapace?

Are colossals considered heavies in order for them to get carapace? I don't think so. "Heavies" is a specific category, and Carapace on colossals would be too much.

No. Very much no. They'd be arm25 vs shooting with a number of casters which isn't necessary.

I'm wondering how Denny3 will do with a bunch of shooting crabjacks in Black Industries. She'll be able to load them up with focus and the carapace will make them survive against ranged retaliation. Just need to keep an inflictor or two near her, since she'll become the #1 target for range (perhaps more than she currently is) due to the fact that ranged vs. her 'jacks won't do much. I'll have to cook something up and give it a try.

Running an Aiakos2 list built to drag the enemy caster into a swarm of Ripjaws might be fun.
