As probably the Troll with the most competitive MKIII matches under their belt here. Genuinely curious. How many are you at?

As probably the Troll with the most competitive MKIII matches under their belt here. Genuinely curious. How many are you at? Depends, are we counting local steamrollers or just WMW qualifying / wildcard events? I've been going to a 3-4 round steamroller pretty much every other weekend for the majority of MKIII (except for the ones I've run) from LVO on playing Trolls. I attended LVO, Kingdomcon, Phoenix Open, PolyCon, LnL and I feel like I'm forgetting 1-2 others. I still have Crucible 6.5, SoCal Open (IG Qualifier and auto-earns you a spot in LVO finals but not a WMW qualifier), and I5 team tournament as my large events remaining for the rest of the year. Might add WMW for the last chance option / to screw around but I need to check flight/hotel costs before even thinking about it.

skurkious to be fair the new kraye is bananas and I have no idea how he got out of CiD the way he did. He doesn't really fill a gap in the cygnar tournie pair. Haley2/3, Caine3, Kara, Nemo3 and even Siege are more likely to see play simply because Kraye's whole shtick is basically charge at insane speeds, and admonition/countermeasures to annoy. He's basically the doomie2 of Cygnar. Also Rowdy/Brickhouse means no theme. Don't get me wrong -- he's a top tier caster now, but I don't see how he's OP. Also trolls need another CiD cycle for elemental lights/impaler. The models that enjoyed buffs during the SotN are all good now, but many models remain needing attention.

I will bemoan PP's utter disregard for the Pyre in mk3 til my dying breath. I still can't believe they think it's fine as is. On top of the Slag having quite literally one of, if not *the* least useful animus in the game.

mydnight I did not say OP I said bananas I think he is bearable but his threat ranges are ludicris haha also a lot of it is out of activation movement which is way better than in activation movement like doomy 2. A big part of it is army wide pathfinder as well which doomy 2 does not have (rush does not count ) Also I agree on the lights, Impaler and pyre are in pretty rough shape. Honestly though I have found the other lights to have used. Some of the guys on here love the storm troll and i always see a slag or 2 in an ADR list.

skurkious to be fair the new kraye is bananas and I have no idea how he got out of CiD the way he did. Speaking from experience, while he is wayyy better than the lackluster version he entered Mk3 with, the new Kraye isn't breaking anything. You always have to keep the faction in mind when making these evaluations. Kraye's got incredible battlegroup mobility (of course), a little bit of control, some mild personal threat, and a conditional hit buff / threat extender / damage buff (sorta) tied up in his feat. But you have to look at what he's competing with. BG buffs don't go quite as far in Cygnar, because the jacks are expensive-but-elite. By contrast, real damage buffs (which he doesn't have) are cherished in Cygnar because of the high attack volume and most things already being accurate out of the box. And while he certainly has some game in the board control department, it's nothing to rival the faction's true control casters. Plus, none of the currently released themes feel quite suited to him. Heavy Metal doesn't let him take his beloved gunmage solos, while SotT and GD don't reward the half-your-list battlegroup he wants to take. I think you definitely will see him, because (a) he's super fun to play, and (b) he has a really high skill cap. But he won't be a common inclusion in list pairings, IMO. At least not this year.

My point wasn't really how powerful he was, I think he is quite powerful if Cygnar players are willing to think outside the box and commit to him like our local guy has.
What I was trying to say is that although Doomie2 can kind of match his straight threat, I don't think he brings the mind games as much. I suppose one's opponent has to be careful not to leave a line of guys that you can surf to a caster or something... Just really lamenting the feeling that trolls seem to be straightforward to play against. We aren't really going to surprise a lot of people with what we can do.
