WTC lists can be found here:
conflictchamber.com/?event=15
There are 8 trollblood players in total, which is perhaps not strange as the perception is that we are weak right now. What IS strange to me though is the lists that are being played. The vast majority makes me go "i do not know why he would play this".
Now, obviously there are several things at work here. First off it is a team tournament, so you can build lists slightly different than normally since you can sort of dodge some match ups. Secondly, i am not really a top tier player. I am more of an internet loud mouth. I think i am good enough to write the beginners guide for trollbloods, but i am by no means the worlds best player. When i come up against the swedish WTC players in tournaments i HOPE to win, but i usually do not. i am happy if i can give them a run for their money. Third, this is a lot of different metas clashing. What is perceived as good in my meta does not have to be good in a different meta.
But still. I just do not get most of the lists...
We start off with a Borka 2/Jarl pairing.
Note that this is pre CID. The lists are not super strange, but the pairing is not what one would expect to say the least.
Then we have Doomy 3 / Doomy 2.
A strange pairing for sure, since they seem to play the same models, and BOTH lists has a pre CID Sea king. Sure you can try and dodge some match ups in a team event, but two melee beast bricks?
Doomy 3 / Madrak 3
Beast Brick combined with BoH. Sea king in the Doomy 3 is unexpected again. Madrak 3 in BoH with a mix of light and heavy infantry. No stone in the list is uncommon, but i like the fact that you save points.
Then we have a Horgle 2/Doomy 3 pairing.
Horgle is in BoH with double kriels and min long riders. Battle group is MK + slag troll. I have no idea how Horgle works with no runebearer and no help with his upkeeps. Also he has no obvious target for Fire Starter. The Doomy 3 list is in PoD and i get it. It has more ranged attacks than you usually see, but i totally get it
Then comes a Grissel 2/ Doomy 3 pairing.
Grissel is in BoH and has no access to far strike. the BG is MK + axer and we have fennblades and warders to back that up. No far strike seems bonkers bananas to me... Doomy is in PoD with a MK and lots of lights. I can appreciate this list. It is not how i play, but i sort of get it i guess.
Next we have Doomy 3 / Madrak 3
Doomy seems understandable, though this list too has more ranged attacks than i would expect. Madrak has double bombers with double champions and double min fennblades. Maybe some sort of anti Ghost tech i guess, but are pre CID champions worth duplicating? I had a hard time justifying even one unit. and min fennblades and only one of them with the attachment? Looks very strange to me.
Now we have Madrak 2 / Ragnor
Madrak 2 in BoH with Fennblades, Longriders and Warders. Looks reasonable. Ragnor is in PoD and has more Runeshapers and lights than i prefer, but this is the first pairing that i actually get both lists
Madrak 2 / Doomy 3
Madrak in BoH with Longriders, Fenns and Kriels. Nothing strange really. Doomy 3 with MK, Mulg, Mauler, Axer and Bouncer. Hurray! i get this one too!
OK, so now that i have insulted the crust of the trollblood players in the world, i would ask any and all of them to please join me here and explain to me why i am wrong. What made you make the choices you did in the list built your lists. there were only TWO EBDTs in all 16 lists, but THREE Sea Kings. To me this is insanity, since i loved the EBDT even before CID. It would be super awesome to get some fresh input on how to build troll lists!
