The guy who likes casters that others like dislikes Zerkova 2. I'm not sure what shes about.
I feel like in front of Harkevitch she's weirdly designed, and counter intuitive and has too much junk in her arsenal. The only thing I have been told she really does is assassinate with an arcnode and maybe clear the way with Ice Sprays from Greylords. That just sounds so finicky and small for a primary gimmick.
And even if that's the case, her spell list is still stuffed with fluff, and I don't really get it. Why does she have a Battlegroup spell when shes not about the battlegroup? If you only have 1-2 jacks your only getting a 1 focus amplification per dead grunt. And if you really want to take advantage of it you take 3, but shes not great at running that many anyway.
Then she has 2 Assassination spells, and no debuff spells of any kind.

She's a gimmicky assassination caster, can you kill their caster on turn two with a lot of pow 12, if yes, you've won the game, if not, well you probably lose the game. She's very binary and a gotcha kind of caster, she's missing one or two good unit with something else than frost typed spells to be good.

I think with infantry lists starting to come back into the fold she will find a spot again. You should always be looking for the assassination with her, but she can take away infantry very nicely as well. Cheers, Dave P.S. I think with the rumoured new greylord theme she'll be able to assassinate bottom of turn 1 against casters that don't pay attention

I think she's supposed to be spell slinger caster like Scaverous, Severius2, etc, except her kit kinda sucks so it isn't working out.
Sac lamb is there to be able to field more than 1 jack and still have focus left to throw spells.

Also if she can assassinate bottom of Turn 1 she is definitely getting a revision. Thats not a feature, thats a bug.

But just about everything does well against Infantry. Not really. Many heavy jacks don't do well against infantry. They can kill individual models, but don't have the attack volume to kill lots of them, which can be what is required. Many models struggle against high-DEF low-ARM infantry, especially as boostable attacks are on jacks/beasts with low attack volume. Zerkova2 turns Outriders into exceptional anti-infantry pieces, addressing both of those issues. They're pretty good without her, but she makes them extremely accurate with sprays if required. And can get double sprays on feat turn. My issue with her has always been that while she makes Outriders exceptional, the only other advantage she really brings is the (early) spell assassination. Vlad1 often makes the Outriders good enough for anti-high DEF work (although not against the highest DEF), and can bring a more versatile list.

Nah, not everything is good against infantry. In fact a little number of things is good against infantry. They either not hit good enough (low rat sprays), not damage good enough (leaps) or not reach good enough (any melee without overtake).
I'm playing almost exclusively LegoS and WGK now and can say that boosted attack pow 12 sprays with 19" threat is among the best things you can have against them. Z2's problem here is that Vlad does the outrider spray thing even better and packs a mean punch with jacks on top of that to solve arm issues.

I agree with the initial poster. I love zerkova, but can't figure out what to do with her second iteration. She seems to be missing a key core unit to buff, and the outriders don't quite fit the bill. It's like she is missing some key piece that would make her click. Also, I wish she kept her spell singer abilities or had them modified from her first version. I also think she needs a basic ranged magic attack.

2 questions...
1. Have people tried her in the new theme? A unit of apparitioning Doomreavers or Outriders seems pretty good with her shtick. 2. For those who have used her, what's the right order and sequence and spell selection for your assassination run? It seems you want to cast occult whispers for few, boost a hoarfrost & cast a hoarfrost (if bottom of one) or upkeep, free spectral & 2 hoarfrosts. Maybe I'm undervaluing just casting multiple spectral fires with boosted attack rolls?
