I posted this question in the Trollbloods forum as well.
I'm almost done painting up the battleboxes for Legion (my wife's faction) and Trolls (my faction) and we will be starting with those to learn the game.
It takes me a while to paint though due to time and just being a slow painter so I'm looking at what I should be putting on my painting table so I can start working on a couple of 15 or maybe 25 point armies for both Trolls and Legion that we can use once we've learned the basics of the game. I've read the Journeyman rules but from what I've read it might be more fun to just build small armies that were (hopefully) pretty well balanced against each other. In other words, I don't mind swapping out any/all models from the battlebox to make these lists.
...bonus points if I can get a Circle army as well since I have that battlebox almost painted now. It would be a fun 'third option' to play around with for both of us.
So, any ideas about what I can build? I have a good deal of the Trollblood models and a decent chunk of Legion stuff that I've picked up in trades and purchased.
I also posted this the Trollblood forum, but if anyone has knowledge of how Trolls do vs. Legion I'm open for list ideas or advice for them as well.

The answer is really universal It depends. When you play against each other you can focus on models you like. If you want to make sure about models you pick you can ask here if they will be balanced against each other. First thought about facing trolls with Legion battle box based army is that you can have problems to kill heavies. But Trolls BB don't have heavies. Staple choices for Trolls would be probably Mauler and Stone. Frequent choices for Kryssa are swordsmen(but lot bodies to paint), Seraph and Azrael. Seraph is always nice to have and often used Legion beast but don't help with armor. I would probably go with Azreal, he is bonkers with Kryssa and may work nicely with Neraph, he puts damage first. Repo from tactical supremacy. Neraph can finish sth and sprint away. Neraph is fine. Bolt thrower can be usefull when you have way to manage his fury - can be swapped. Shredders are better when you give them to beast mistress battle group. Fine if you like them but playing without them is fine. Some solos for fury: shepherd and forsaken are basic tools and its worth to practice using them. Legion Army - 15 (Kryssa 1) Kryssa, Conviction of Everblight [+31] - Azrael [21] - Nephilim Bolt Thrower [11] - Neraph [12] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1] Circle BB is one of the strongest one, you can try it without changing it. When playing more points you can swap argus for warpwolf stalker or add some wolwyrds or sentry stones and manikins.

Thanks! I'm going to put this one together to start. I will need to pick up Azrael, but I've got the Shepherds all lined up on my painting table.
Looks like my 15 points for Trolls are going to be:
War Room Army
Trollblood - 15 Point Ragnor
Theme: No Theme Selected 15 / 15 Army
Ragnor Skysplitter, the Runemaster - WB: +30 - Dire Troll Mauler - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 15) - Troll Bouncer - PC: 9 (Battlegroup Points Used: 9) - Troll Impaler - PC: 11 (Battlegroup Points Used: 6)
Swamp Gobber Chef - PC: 1
