Hi everyone, I'm new to the faction and I am building a small skorne force for fun. Just wondering what the consensus is on Naaresh and if he is worth picking up? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

I guess my first question is are you picking up 2 Siege Animantarax or not?
Edit: What themes do you want to play?

Just looking to put together a small force when I'm bored of cygnar. I wanna put him with some savages, titans, and beast handlers, I think he could really do some work setting up runs for caster kills. I really like lamentation and think it might give him an edge with some scenarios but this is all theory right now. Not to mention he just looks cool.

Before themes and the SA hit I ran naaresh with karax, aggy, 2 archidons, Rhinodon, sentry, cannoneer, and a glad on zaadesh with PGBH. Now the list should probably be in host and all host lists should start with 2 SA but skipping that I would probably start with the same basic build replacing the karax with brutes and go from there. Maybe put the brutes on zaadesh? not sure. past game with some commentary in this thread lormahordes.freeforums.net/post/15869/threadIt is a pretty old game and has some mistakes in it but it should give you a feel for some of the rule interactions. I hate to be the wet blanket but honestly I really don't think titans are the way to play skorne anymore. The SA have muscled their way into both themes so far and by my estimations are the best choice of model for both of these lists. Once you bring 2 SA there are not many points left to run a fully kitted out titan herd but the titans even under full effect of the herd just don't seem to be a better choice than 2 SA. So I find I bring the other beast choices in the faction either getting raider with 2X shaman, or archidons most of the time. That isn't to say a sentry or glad doesn't have their place in lists I just find running the full herd (glad + BB + other titans) to not be points efficient enough to compete with other options in the faction.

Here's my basic thoughts on what you want. War Room Army
Skorne - BluntForceTrauma
Theme: Imperial Warhost 3 / 3 Free Cards 74 / 75 Army
Master Ascetic Naaresh - WB: +32 - Titan Gladiator - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 15) - Titan Gladiator - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 15) - Titan Sentry - PC: 15 (Battlegroup Points Used: 2) - Titan Sentry - PC: 15 - Bronzeback Titan - PC: 18 - Cyclops Shaman - PC: 8 - Reptile Hound - PC: 4
Tyrant Zaadesh - PC: 4 - Agonizer - PC: 0 - Agonizer - PC: 0 - Basilisk Krea - PC: 0
Paingiver Beast Handlers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 7 Paingiver Beast Handlers - Leader & 3 Grunts: 5
THEME: Imperial Warhost ---
GENERATED : 08/23/2017 01:04:58 BUILD ID : 2047.17-07-25
It's not subtle. It's not complicated. It is devastating. The only question is if you have to use your feat defensively.

Kind of surprising that you leave out the brute, I would think that his animus alone would make him an auto include.

There's a wall of beef in front. You certainly could replace one of the Sentrys but you'll be doubling down on your fury issues. One option would be replace a Sentry and Reptile Hound with a Brute and Rhinodon. But like I said, fury issues.

I would highly recommend including at least one Rhinodon for infantry clearing, that 2" thresher can rally help a lot.

I think if you're playing this list you're committing to advancing down in a wall, laughing in the face of infantry and dodging certain matchups with another list.

Thinking more deeply about it, Naaresh will probably do better in the Disciples of Agony (that's the name right?) theme. Then take a mix of lights and heavies with a battle boar and a unit or 2 to screen. Probably works much better with the game he wants to run anyway.

In general Disciples of Agony (yes thats the name for it) will out shine Imperial Warhost based on what was leaked. The addition of many of those beasts (access to rage, lucky shot, an arc node, and feral) and the ability to take infantry will make it a very powerful theme. The only thing I am hoping they change is to make the minion infantry we take in that theme friendly faction in theme so that Morghoul 3 can use his spells and feat with them. Just think how good Brigands or Slaughterhousers would be with either Mirage or Occultation of them.

It's extremely unlikely that minions warriors gain friendly faction. Both from a fluff and a mechanics perspective. If they become faction, would the Task Master even function with them? Not without an overly complicated rule I think.

Naaresh is the warlock who uses cyclops, rhinodons and Archidons best in our faction as he can swing their strenght by hefty +5. While Titans seem to be popular, I would stil say, go with big numbers to take most out of his feat! It doesn't matter much if your beasts frenzy after feat turn if there is hardly anything left from enemy and this is what Naaresh is about, huge alpha hit that will deliberate enemy. He looks solid in imperial warhost theme, but actually has kinda funny game in Cyclop shooting winds of death theme too. First your cyclop shamans and raiders will shoot down solos and supports, weaken some heavies and when enemy is near, pop up feat and go charge his heavies with Str16 lights. It definately needs some time to get used to, but is kinda fun list to play. I also like Naaresh with one infantry squad, which unfortunately puts him out of theme, but blurred nihilators, Ferox or legends to name a few work nicely alongside beast spam.

Once we get our minion theme Naaresh will be able to put the cyclope savages up to PO21 (feat+rage+enrage) on feat turn and armor 19. Those are going to be some pretty good cyclopes missiles with 11 threat range.

I agree, though I believe that greatest winners of that theme will be Xekaar, Morghoul1&2, who can use arc nodes and constantly give 7 power swings to his models (mortality/abuse+rage+enrage). Giving 1 or 2 models that kind of buff each turn is in my opinion stronger than one feat turn. On Naaresh however I believe swamp horrors will be popular option for Naaresh, as they have such big volume of attacks and his feat and agonizer combined with horrors impervious flesh is just plain brutal!
