A while ago I was looking for the most competitive pairing for a great team tournament in Germany. Said tournament was last weekend and I ended up playing the following pairing:
Rask
2x Wrastlers
1x Bull Snapper (free)
Viktor Pendrake (free)
1x Bog Trog Mist Speaker (free)
7x Min. GMP
Calaban
1x Wrastler
1x Blindwalker
1x Ironback Spitter
2x Gatormen Witchdoctor (free)
1x Bog Trog Mist Speaker (free)
1x Min. Bog Trog Ambusher
2x Max. Croak Raiders
1x Sacral Vault
The plan was to drop Rask into everything but Cryx. Calaban was supposed to do Cryx or go in if I feel that I have a terrible pairing and will just hope for a Hail Mary assassination.
My team was playing Cryx (Coven GF/G3 Dark Host) and Circle (the Baldurs).
Game 1:
Our Cryx went into Khador, our Circle got Grymkin and I played into Legion. My opponent dropped Abby2 hoping to be able to chew through my GMP.
Abby2
Seraph
Proteus
Scythean
Carnivean
Naga
Sorceress & Hellion
Hex Hunters & Bayal
+Support Stuff
I lost the roll and got to choose sides. I picked the one, which had an obstruction closer to me in the central zone of the scenario (Standoff).
Abby ran everything up the table and I measured the ranges, and kept everything out of threat range from the beast, but within walking distance of the Hunters with Bayal, by feating with Rask. I put up Admonition on Rask himself, Fury on one of the Wrastlers and Veil of Mist on the Obstruction so, that my Wrastler with Fury was able to peek out and charge through it in the next turn.
Abby walked in her Hex Hunters to jam the Posse with Shadow Bind, but fell for my Veil of Mist play and placed the Scythean in range of my Wrastler with Boundless Charge. This opened up the piece trading. I easily killed the Scythean and all but two Hex Hunters.
Now it was Abby’s turn to feat and kill the Wrastler and a couple of GMP with the Proteus. However, with Proteus not doing half as much as she hoped she went for a Hail Mary assassination with the Carnivean. She found a landing zone and would only have to kill one GMP to be able to get LOS to Rask who has camping 1 after upkeeping all his spell and casting Boundless Charge. The Carnivean used his feat given wings to fly to its destination and upon landing noticed that Rask had done, what he does best, which is get out of harm’s way by using Admonition.
From this point on the game was basically over as my opponent had overlooked Admonition and only had around 14 seconds on his clock. Rask walked up, dispelled Bracer from the Proteus and put Fury on the min. Unit closest to Proteus and renewed Admonition, Pendrake aimed and knocked him down. Now the furious GMP jumped onto Proteus and finished him off easily. The remaining Wrastler walked into the back arc of the Carnivean and snacked him up, too. This secured me the victory points for the beasts I could reach and I switched the clock back.
A victory for the Gators.
I was up on scenario 4:0 and the attrition was over with only Abby, a damaged Naga, a Seraph and some support being left on the battle field, while I had lost a Wrastler and a couple of Gators, when my opponent clocked himself.
The rest of my team won as well and started the tournament with a nice 3:0. Our opponents finished 2:4 at the end of the tournament and definitely had a disadvantage against us in terms of experience especially in terms of SR 2017.
I had a great game with my opponent, but she clearly underestimated the power of the Posse and thus did not really stand a chance. Trying to chew through the Posse takes time...
More reports to follow soon, if you want!

Game 2: Our Cryx played Khador again, Circle was paired against Mercs and I got to play against a beautiful CoC army. My opponent had Lucant and the Iron Mother in the pairing and decided to give the Mother a go. I think this was a mistake, as Lucant should do better into my list in my opinion.
[Theme] Destruction Initiative Iron Mother Directrix [+27] - Cipher [16] - Corollary [6] - Galvanizer [5] - Modulator [10] - Modulator [10] - Modulator [10] - Prime Conflux [37] Attunement Servitors [0(4)] Attunement Servitors [0(4)] Reflex Servitors [0(4)] Reflex Servitors [0(4)] Optifex Directive [4] Optifex Directive [4]
The scenario was Breakdown and I won the role and decided to go first.
Turn 1 saw me running up my whole army and switching the clock and he did basically the same. We had an obstruction close to the center, which was the center point for my army. I had put up Veil of Mist on it again to be able to threaten the Conflux and kill him and Fury/Admonition on the 2 Wrastlers.
I chose to feat turn 2 which enabled me to position myself better as he was not able to do much in return. After my feat, I played the left flank aggressively as he only had a couple of servitors and a Modulator guarding the flank. The cipher had gone to the center and triggered Admonition in turn two. The center saw my first Wrastler go into the Cipher and kill him and the second Wrastler charged the Conflux with Rage, Fury & Boundless Charge on him. Normally this should mean a dead Conflux, as I 68 Damage on average on a ARM 20 model. Unfortunately, I rolled poorly and this made the game much closer than I had hoped for. The Conflux survived on 2 Boxes and the one Posse that was able to reach him, did make that roll high enough in it charge to kill him either. In his turn, he tried the only play possible, which was try and kill both Wrastlers with the Conflux, as the rest of the army was engaged with GMP and was very unlikely to last for more than 2 turn.
As expected he failed to do so as well, as my 2nd Wrastler survived with about 6 boxed left. However, that was enough to kill the Conflux and basically end the game in my next turn. At this point, I was scoring in the left zone with him having no options to get anything into the zone and while whole army was engaged with the GMP. He tried a Hail Mary assassination, that included about 8 free strikes, poor dice on my side and very good dice on his. This was not the one game in a hundred, where it worked and he ran out of time.
Again, I had a great time with my opponent, but he had hardly played any games this year and due to that did not play as fast as he normally would. This made it very difficult for him to deal with the Posse as his list hardly had enough "BAMM!" to really beat mine.
The rest of my team did well, too and we won the round 3:0.

Game 3: Cryx got Khador again (Circle and me had not noticed this until he told us, but Cryx was fine with it) and Circle played a mirror match. I got to play into Protectorate, which was something the other team wanted to prevent as their Circle list was pretty good into my Rask. Unfortunately for them, they had messed up the pairing against us.
We were pretty happy with the result as our opponent were all current or former WTC players and we knew they were one of the contenders for the Top3. I knew my opponent was no slouch and even though I had a positive matchup, I was a little nervous.
The scenario was Outlast and I was able to go first into the following list:
THEME: Exemplar Interdiction The Harbinger of Menoth - WJ: +24 - Judicator - PC: 36 Vessel of Judgment - PC: 18 Vassal Mechanik - PC: 1 Knights Exemplar Seneschal - PC: 0 Vassal Mechanik - PC: 1 Choir of Menoth - Leader & 3 Grunts: 4 Visgoth Juviah Rhoven & Honor Guard: 9 Exemplar Errants: 10 Exemplar Vengers: 20
Getting the first turn would secure the alpha strike, which I really wanted to get against my opponent. Turn 2 saw me and my opponent feat, with him barely toeing each zone with a couple of his models.
I decided to ignore Harbingers feat and go in. My goal was to jam him out of the right zone and score asap to put pressure onto him. Unfortunately, my dice were poor and I did not manage to hit a single 8 with rerolls with my first 8 Gators and so I ended up taking a lot more damage, than I dealt as he in return rolled pretty well and even killed 1 Gator with his feat.
We both felt like victory was slipping away from me and the attrition looked pretty good for him after his 3rd turn, but as I was able to finally kill some Errants and Vengers in turn 4 he had to commit the battle engine to prevent me from scoring. My Wrastler easily removed from play and I was finally able to score my first point. In return, he tried to make a risky play with his Judicator to maybe clear a zone, but also stand in range of the 2nd Wrastler. He did not roll good enough to clear the zone and this time my Wrastler showed, that he was made to one-round colossals and quickly killed him with even some fury to spare.
From this point on my opponent knew he had lost the game, but he still tried his best. He lured me into trying to assassinate Harbi, which I should not have done. I was not really at risk of getting Rask killed, but there was no reason to go for a risky assassination instead of scoring. I was really angry at myself, that I had let him lure me into this, but had done a great job as I have to admit. In his next turn he simply ran Harbinger as close to Rask as possible probably to lure me into trying it again, however, I decided not to take any risks at all, as I know how strong Harbinger can actually hit in melee and simply ran Rask as far away as possible and blocking LOS to Harbinger. At this point I was up on Scenario and would only need to free on flag from one last model. So after I had run, my opponent noticed, that I would no risk anything anymore and simply passed onto Matyrdom which allowed me to score. There was simply no way for him to win anymore.
My opponent had played this game very well, but his list was not tailored to deal with mine and he saw this a little earlier than me and tried to do everything to still pull of a victory. It was a great game that I had made more exciting than it should have been. I probably could waited until after Harbingers feat, but I wanted have the line of battle at the edge of the zone rather than in the zone and I would make the same decision again as the damage should not be too bad. My team did great again and we managed to pull of a victory, that none of us had expected with a 3:0 lead over one of the strongest teams on the tournament. They had an insanely hard road on the tournament and went 4:2. A really strong team, that I respect a lot!

Game 4: This was the last game of the day and we really wanted to win this one as it feels bad to lose the last game of the day after not dropping a single game before. Our opponent was rather unknown, but they were standing 3:0 as well and we did not expect an easy game and we ended up having a hard time… Our Cryx player ended up playing into Retribution, our Circle played into Cryx and I ended up with crazy old cat lady style Makeda 2: Supreme Archdomina Makeda [+27] - Basilisk Krea [7] - Despoiler [19] - Mortitheurge Willbreaker [4] - Mortitheurge Willbreaker [4] - Orin Midwinter, Rogue Inquisitor [5] - Tyrant Rhadeim [9] - Legends of Halaak [8] - Paingiver Beast Handlers (min) [5] - Praetorian Ferox (max) [20] - Praetorian Ferox (max) [20] Theme: Winds of Death The scenario was Recon II. I was first and ran up as far as possible. In return, he stayed out of my threat ranges ready to charge next turn. I just advanced a little, making sure I would threaten the whole zones and feated. A beast and a solo were placed at my flag that would allow me scoring during his turn. 3 GMP were within 4 “ of his flag to prevent him from scoring unless he kills all of them, which should take him 6 cats on average. He only had 5 on that flank though… His turn saw him running on cat to my flag, why the rest stayed way back. I decided to tell him later that turn that he would not prevent me from scoring as he was out of command and allowed him to bring the leader closer at the end of the turn. I probably should not have done that. When I told him I only thought about the two points, but as I had scored in my turn as well, I basically gifted him with 4 contested points. In return, his 5 cats easily killed my GMP as he rolled really well. However, this was what I had expected anyway, as I have never played into kittens that role average and so it was not too disheartening. The 3 Gators close to the flag game me the opportunity to get the real alpha strike on the left flank and it was easy enough to kill the one cat next to me flad to score myself. Now, we can fast forward to the end of a very, very long grind festival, which sees 8 kittens killed as well as Rhadeem being the Pedestrian of the Apocalypse and only 5-6 GMP left. However, I am able to go to 8:6 and it is his 7th turn so he tries to tie me in points be unjamming his zone of 4 Gators and kill my objective. He easily removed the 4 Gators with Makeda (which was already a great deed of her!) and jumps to the objective with two kittens. The objective survives 3 HP and he charges in Rhadeem, when his clock ends. He says, I still get to do the attack now and I agree, after I do MY free strike that could kill him… The free strike easily kills Rhadeem and my opponent is disappoint, that his plan to win the game with more scoring models in the zone is lost. However, as he had no option to prevent me from scoring in my zone, I would have won either way. He loses on clock/ 10:7 on scenario after turn 7. This game was a great. My opponent fought hard and I am happy that I allowed him to put up the leader as that would have prpbably ended the game with me being 4:1 in the lead as I doubt he could have recovered from that. My team does really well too, but unfortunately our Cryx player loses, so our perfect score is ruined. We still win 2:1 and had a REALLY great first day. 2 more matches to come and the Minions are 4:0 Awesome!! The other reports are coming soonish too. This game will also be available on youtube at a later stage as it was on the video table.

Thanks a lot for the reports. It was a great tournament and I can recommend it to anyone who is eager to travel to Germany. I didn't do nearly as good, underperformed a lot and got a 2-4 out of it. Not playing for many months shows. Again thanks for the detailed reports, I enjoyed and learned from them. Greif told me about the game - must have been awesome since mistakes were made on both sides at such a high level. From an observers point of view those are the games which stay in mind and stand out. I was totally happy to see you (and one of the guys from Bremen as well) holding the Minions flag high! Congrats to your performance!

Awesome batreps!
So apparently the 21 Posse is still a thing even in SR17!
Now, I need to go by two boxes of Posse...
