I was thinking back to Legion in Mk 2 (ah the days!), and after looking at some old lists I have a question and was wandering if anyone could help me with.
When Taking the classic Pairing of Vayl2 (machinatinos of Shadow) and Saeryn, who did you drop into who?
Was Saeryn always a drop into Trolls? Did you ever not Drop Vayl2 against Khador?
If there are any old timers here, I would really appreciate your thoughts, and if there were definative 'rules' as to who you dropped into who.
If you're feeling particularly like a walk down memory lane, you could also say who you liked to drop where in other classic pairings (Lylyth2, Vayl1, absolonia)
Mny thks for any info

I started playing Legion when pSaeryn slowly fell out of favour. eVayl's MoS was always a list I wanted to play seriously but never *really* wanted to. Instead I mained eLyly for quite some time and against Trolls I had eAbby and sometimes pVayl. During the last 1-2 MKII years my meta (and my collection growth, e.g. triple Wasps) called for eAbby most of the time and I piloted her most often. Happy times, really loved those two casters and their lists.

The gist of the pairing was really just drop Saeryn 1 into melee lists, drop Vayl 2 into guns. It's not a pairing I particularly liked as neither Warlock brought any damage buffs to the table. It eventually fell out of favour and Saeryn 1 was replaced with Vayl 1 who could better handle lists like Runes of War and Wold War. Of course this did mean losing Saeryn 1's strength into Cryx but Vayl 2 could handle most Cryx lists just fine.
Personally I enjoyed pairing Absylonia 2 and Lylyth 2 in Mk II. Lylyth could handle Cygnar and Cryx while Absylonia dealt with the brick lists Lylyth couldn't. I particularly liked Abby because Bracer made playing into Convergence and Butcher 3 much easier.

So Saeryn / Vayl2 - Saeryn into melee, Vayl2 into guns (Cygnar, khador guns?) Vayl1 / Vayl2 - Vayl1 for armour cracking, Vayl2 for everything else? Aby2 / Lylyth2 - Abby2 against armour (trolls, Skorne?) Aby 2 for Cyrx / Cygnar everything else
Is this about right?

Vayl1 and vayl2 mk2 all the way. Vayl1 could play into just about anything really except heavy shooting / control casters and vayl2 was quite the oposite.

I played Lylyth2/Thags2 for most of MKII. I've never played a pairing that covered each other as well as those 2 did back in MK2.

how did Lylyth2/Thags2 cover the matchups? By being a better player.

Thagrosh 2 / Lylyth 2 would be the same idea as Abby 2 / Lylyth 2, armour cracker paired with an anti-gunline with assassination threat.
Lylyth 2 would be the one handling Cryx in both pairings, she could deal with the infantry spam better by sandpapering off the front line every turn and either getting a big attrition swing on feat turn or killing their caster.
