i really like your article. I am testing a post CID grim1 Version. I really think he is able to deal with cryx.

I really liked this article! Even me being a circle player seeing your opinion and how you tech for dark host helps me in my list building I too watched the cryx CiD with dread as cryx players complained about underpowered banes. What is going to ensue with dark host theme is not going to be fun for anyone....meanwhile players continue to complain about madrack 1 even ground and battle bears

I disagree with the assessment about Grim2 into Dark Host. As far as I can tell without consulting War Room, you have exactly 1 magical gun. If they're playing double Wraith Engine in Dark Host they get to entirely engage on their own terms.

If they're playing double Wraith Engine in Dark Host they get to entirely engage on their own terms. There's always the time-honored incorp removal of Spirit Chaser. That was most of what we had in the bad old days of Cryx match ups.

Fair enough, I guess Dark Host tends to have very little reach beyond 13". I guess I'm just used to playing them SUPER far back to avoid arced nukes and stuff against Cryx.

FWIW Arcaux your Gunny list could translate into the Northkin theme pretty well. Here's a draft. Note also that Valka has Take Down for a little more RFP and Magic Weapon on his two axes at MAT 8. I'm sort of missing how this will work. The war wagon, mk and fire eaters are only good if they can charge, and both gaspy and the coven prevent that from happening. And with parasite and curse of shadows, those casters don't have a problem taking huge heavily armored bases off the board. I see how the abilities those models bring are good vs dark host, but how do you use them vs a cloud wall or the witch covens feat?
ive only just started thinking about this, but it seems like calandra or the new madrak1 might be a good option. Banes can crack armor like nobody's business, but they're pretty much stuck at mat 6-7. You throw a defense skew at them and you have a chance to attrition them down.

i'm not sure if she could, I was just thinking champs under star crossed or solid ground are only getting hit about 30% of the time by banes, 20% if you kill tartarus. Its still probably a tough match, but it seems better than bringing stuff that needs to charge into lists that stop charges.
