I think the big ones will be Ragman for Z1 fangs (pretty much the best fang build), Alexia for fangs/wgk (the only possible recursion in Khador), Orin in Jaws (good improvement against control), Ashley in Jaws (improves all hordes beast brick matchups) and A&H for wgk even without Valachev (solves Fleet without specific caster). Those have the high probability of being allowed. I don't think we'll be allowed something entirely new in Jaws or LoS like Nyss or dwarf BE. I'd agree with most of that. Orin will be appearing in lots of lists where there is no Ruin. Eliminators will be a great pick all over. Alexia1 might be in as a useful double dip for scenario play - you get a unit and can generate solos, with considerable range (place + move + convert to thrall which then runs). Bokur as universally available in themes also seems likely (given the fluff of attaching themselves to individuals, rather than armies) and gives a handy shield guard - will help B3. But I wouldn't rule out something like Nyss in Jaws - using mercs fits with the "irregulars" theme and we already know that Khador uses mercs to protect jacks in transit, which is what Jaws is meant to represent (story intro for Ossrum was defending Conquests en route to the front, with accompanying Rhulic forces). Nyss for more pathfinder in Jaws or Croes for more stealth and shooting could fit. Might also work for Jaws as a more balanced list - Kayazy + Merc unit + jacks with a couple of free solos. It will be interesting to see whether any of the themes require the merc units to have a ranking officer (or perhaps using the ranking officer to allow points on a merc unit to count towards theme benefits?) - I could see that being a useful way of controlling access to some extent. We might also get more fluff-linked - "mercenary solos and units with magic ability" in Greylords, for example.

I don't think Partisans would count as Mercs, so I don't see that the new rules would allow us to suddenly add Kayazy to all our themes?

When it was announced they said the intention was to allow all partisan troops in themes and it will turn them faction friendly. Afrer all, Kayazy are not technically Khadoran.

When it was announced they said the intention was to allow all partisan troops in themes and it will turn them faction friendly. That's very... permissive of them. Afrer all, Kayazy are not technically Khadoran. What? Those traitorous backstabbers!

Well. They do have the back stab rule after all.

You 2 better be careful with what you say about Kayazy. Those words might be considered character assassination.

Good point, it wouldn't be fair of me to eliminate people's good-will towards them.

You're right. I love the kayazy. They are the greatest of all the Khadoran people!

Afrer all, Kayazy are not technically Khadoran. Khadoran, but not part of the Khadoran military.

Well, the key mercs for Khador have always been Wishy because almost every Khador caster his besties with that guy, A&H because we lack magic weapons and Orin to protect our huge bases and expensive units from nasty magic.

This would actually 'deal' with botht he faction bloat and theme issue. They can start tossing more stuff at mercs as 'partisan' so they don't need to make two units with [X] and [Y] because both factions need it. Or something like that.

Partisans have usually been a case of 'this model/unit actually belongs to x faction, but we want Mercs to be vaguely viable to play'.
