So my dad is actually the one who plays legion, and lately he's been getting discouraged. It's probably partly my fault as we're both getting ready for a tournament and one of my lists is Caine3 list that packs ALL the guns you'd expect from a cygnar gunline...
So my question and request is that people post here any lists they have that deal with HEAVY gun lines as well as how one might play those lists and I'll then inform my dad how other players are dealing with them. Then if he wants he can use the information to create his own list or use one posted here. Thanks in advance!

Speed, rushing in and jamming those gunlines, using cover or using specific Warlocks such as Abby2, Lylyth3, Saeryn1 etc Can't Shoot if dead or in Melee

Would Lylyth2 be a viable choice? Out-gunlining Cygnar?
Sidenote, would any gunline be worth it in todays meta? Shield guards are available for everyone and their ogrun.

I'd second the lylyth3 suggestion. She can protect herself and some of her army from caine3's feat, and assassinate him pretty well with hers. Even full camp doesn't really keep him safe.
I've only had one game against him and i was playing Bethayne. I lost most of my army on his feat turn, but tagged him with a disintegrate through a spell martyr the previous turn for 8 damage through focus and the next popped out of Belphagore for him to run up and channel another for the win. Depended on nothing less than average dice for 4 rolls, but it worked that time.
The spell assassination approach would be much more reliable with Vayl2

Know your opponenta threat ranges (walk and shoot+modifiers) and run all your army one inch outside that. Helps if you go first. Take advantage of terrain and know opponents anti stealth models. Lylyth 3 is a good answer except ret or magical shooting armies. Never overexpose caster and cloud effects (succubus/gobbers) help. High def skew (fyanna) works well. Ive had tough match ups against vlad 1 rockets, nemo 3, issyria, ossrum gun bunnies, and cain 2. Ive heard cain 3 charger spam and sloan are gross.

Gunlines are certainly my main concern when putting together Legion pairings. Lylyth3 is my current answer, which locks up one of my lists, and I'm not sure it's actually a good answer with the amount of magical guns out there.

Throw in a couple of Carniveans and/or a Throne, and anything that connects is going to have a hard time breaking that kind of armor.

When i play against cygnar i use Saeryn1. The times I've played against them, they have trouble going through arm23 carniveans. This is the list I use. Also with the cloud from the Succubus, Saeryn goes up to defense 20 vs range and immune to blast damage.
Legion Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Oracles of Annihilation
(Saeryn 1) Saeryn, Omen of Everblight [+28] - Carnivean [19] - Carnivean [19] - Carnivean [19] - Naga Nightlurker [8] - Nephilim Bloodseer [8] - Nephilim Protector [10] - Zuriel [18] - Succubus [0(4)] Blighted Nyss Sorceress & Hellion [0(6)] Blighted Nyss Sheperd [1] Blighted Nyss Sheperd [1] The Forsaken [0(4)] The Forsaken [0(4)]

Lylyth3 was my previous answer, and I've been very happy to discover how well Fyanna plays into gunlines. The Hellion(s) really can do a number on a gunline as well, as you dig it in nice and deep on feat turn with ravaging winds up. Now your gun-themed opponent has to somehow kill a DEF 17 solo in melee in order to even use his guns.

Lylyth 2... But sadly, that is gone. More seriously, my going plan has been Abby 2 Oracles with a Blight bringer, and a pair of bees. BB just for the moving concealment bubble and the not so ignorable fact that he's pow 21 on 6 attacks under feat. But mainly, one unit of bees threaten 14" with apparition and alpha hunter and 16" with app, alpha, and feat. Killing spree then turns them into disgusting infantry murder machines. So good bye trenchers. (but now i think they are getting tough checks and no knock down or some crap. I can't remember exactly) Either way, they can still run 14"-18"-20" if they need to engage and stop shooting for a turn.

With the change to Shadow Pack I could see her getting it back. The feat change, the change to non upkeep. It means that you have to pick between what you want lylyth Doing.
I would also love arcane archer back so she can finally hit pincushions.

I would also love arcane archer back so she can finally hit pincushions. I can't see why they had to remove that in the transition. I get removing Snipe. I can mostly understand that Shadow pack gave her a really good defense into into the main thing that could in turn deal with her. But why remove her ability to actually cast and hit a target with her only offensive spell? I guess it's another case of "she used to be good so we have to panic and nerf her too far to make up for an arbitrary amount of time being too good" I would even take one or the other and be happy. Either she get shadow pack back. Or get the arcance archer rule back. Doesn't have to be both. but either would make her much more serviceable. I get that the bow is different. So no witch mark. But you don't have to attach arcane archer to the Bow. It can just be a separate rule that only lives on L2. But then again would having it the bow (and keeping it) really even matter to L3? has anyone ever cast the spray for any reason?

I keep looking for the magic alignment where a spell martyr is in position for an amazing frost hammer arch.... but Fury5 is just too low to make the spray work. When we had pre-nerfed Zuriel, it was something I enjoyed doing.
For Lylyth2... I really wish she didn't get nerfed so hard. I can understand getting rid of Snipe (even though a different caster in a different faction got it >.<). Gunfighter doesn't -do- much of anything for us. If it was Dual Shot... then the synergy with L2 and Warspears would be amazing. I even understand getting rid of Shadow Pack. But it didn't get replaced with anything to compensate its loss. Maybe down the road PP will look and decide to adjust her better... Arcane Archer would go a long way in helping. Making Soothing Song a innate ability would be a great step. That would open up a selection of spells that could fit her play style (ambushing long-range warfare).
But to the OP - now that I feel like I've really help derail the conversation - I really like Lylyth3 and Abby2 into gunlines. I generally take Abby2 with 2 Ravagores. With Return Fire, the opponent is in a real catch 22.
