I was somewhat perturbed on signing up that this forum requires I specify a Gender. Now I see it also places a gender icon on all your posts... Can this be disabled? Add a third option of 'unspecified/other' or something?

I'll add that in the settings you can also change your display name, as example to put in the name the capital letters that it doesn't accept at the registration.
You can change it on the "Display Name" setting.

Is there a setting one of you two can change to remove that from this board? Seems like it would be worth looking into.

Sadly I think it's hard baked into the forum software; I think they mandate it at account creation for the entire proboards\freeforums network :/

I can simply make the male and female images transparent if you want, effectively removing them (they will be there but invisible)

Ok, I made the change. Now both gender icons are invisible. Since it is not a relevant problem anymore, I'm de-stickying this topic.

I didn't care either way on this issue but it is sooooo nice to be able to make a reasonable change and see something done. Thanks again for starting this forum.

It's still relevant if privacy is your concern rather than visibility - I can still tell that redoctober selected 'male', for example, because while the image is invisible, the markup for it still exists. It probably doesn't need to be sticky though

I can't understand why gender section is required. Our gender has really no value in the online board. The only important things are what we calls ourselves and what we says, nothing more.

It's probably not relevant. It's probably just an artifact from the freeforum.net default settings.

It's probably not relevant. It's probably just an artifact from the freeforum.net default settings. He got it. The forum format by default asks for it, we are looking for a solution to totally remove it. Meanwhile, the icons have been made invisible and you can chose on your profile to not show your gender.
