You shouldn't have said anything and let him stew for a while.

So I played this list last night with Vlad1 into skorne. His caster was Hexeris and the big threat piece was the mammoth. Other than that he had some swordsmen, two worm light warbeasts, a soul reaver, orin, and some little shooty guys that really made me mad all game. Oh he also had beast handlers which were also annoying.
He decimated my Uhlans before I could really do too much and the little shooty guys, who are apparently made to take out larger bases took out Markov quickly. I felt these units were going to be my best weapons against the mammoth, but they did not stay on the table long enough to do anything of merit. I found that I really enjoyed the Grolar, but the lack of Ruin or Behemoth really put a target on the Grolars head. The great bears did some work, but my positioning of them was terrible all game. The Feat turn for Skorne really messed me up because it gutted my IFP and Black Dragons. It was a long, hard fought game and I brought his caster within one shot of being killed, but ultimately, I lost.
All in all, I liked the way the list ran. I loved Signs and Portents, but I can understand why Vlad might not be the answer I was looking for. He really does very little for units and I only had two jacks in the list. I might try it next with B1 as he gives a little more love to units with Fury, Iron Flesh, and Vengeful. And Full Throttle is nice for the couple of jacks he will have.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback - I ultimately like the way this theme works. The Iron Fang units seems heartier than WG and ask a lot of questions of the opponent. Unfortunately, they ask a lot of questions of my also, and I am not quite sure I know all of the answers just yet.

with LOS i like irusk 2 his bubble help your IFP to stay alive and u dont have to keep kovnik or markov behing because irusk do immune KO and tacticien 4 you alreasy so u can use them agressively. the Destroyer help for sustain fire and with the puppy with your AoD can cap a flag with 17def immune KO and tought if u dont need AoD somewhere else of cousethe great bear countercharge is realy strong but choose your target carefully. You can also use his feat to charge with the ulhan in the forest most of the time they dont expect it and u can cause chaos in their line while the rest of your troop get ready to finish them off.
Irusk2
wardog destroyer destroyer
kovnik (free) kovnik (free) markov
full Ulhan
IFP full + Ua (free) IFP full + UA
Great Bear
74/75
and with irusk to give Sofya tough tactitian and no KD OMG she'll be a Beast

Anyway, thanks for the feedback - I ultimately like the way this theme works. The Iron Fang units seems heartier than WG and ask a lot of questions of the opponent. Unfortunately, they ask a lot of questions of my also, and I am not quite sure I know all of the answers just yet. Seeing that you have played all of 14 games as of this date, I'm going to take a step back on the advice to some general advice. 1) It looks like your Win/Loss record is 3/11. Nothing against you, but be prepared to have your head handed to you on a regular basis until you get good. That is Warmachine / Hordes. Losing is how you learn. Did you learn from the above game? It sounds like you did, so it was a good game. 2) Don't discard Vlad1 out of hand just yet. Vlad1 does *a lot* for units - if they actually get into combat. The problem with your army list is that it is a melee heavy army list, so if your units get shot up before they can get into combat then Signs and Portents doesn't help your units much. Play the army again, but instead of casting Signs and Portents cast Blood of Kings and Wind Wall when you are going up against a shooting army like that. Surround Vlad1 with the cav or whatever unit you want to protect from shooting - Blood of Kings will allow him to move 9" and maneuver as you need him. 3) Butcher1 is a good replacement for Vlad1, but keep in mind that they both pretty much do the same thing in very different ways. Vlad1 thinly buffs the whole army with Signs and Portents while Butcher1 buffs the warjacks with Full Throttle, one warjack in particular with Vengeful, one unit with Fury, and one unit with Iron Flesh. One of these 2 might be better for your play style over the other - play some games to figure it out. 4) Number 3 above leads into this one - one of the neat things about Warmahordes is that you can take the same army, swap out the warcaster, and it will play completely differently under one than the other. Some of the others here have been advocating Strakhov2 for this army list. You'd need to adjust the warjacks you take in the army, but he would be an acceptable alternative. He might be great for you! He might be a stinker for you. I'd suggest you get some more games in with Vlad1 and Butcher1 (and maybe some of the other warcasters in that army list) before you experiment with Strakhov2, and absolutely play some games with Strakhov2 before you buy him.
