I was just thinking about building Madrak 1 as a counter to Ghost Fleet, but I realized that all of the Madraks have magic weapons at both range and melee and are no slouch with them.
Madrak 1 or 3 could pick off a couple ghosties from 12 inches away. Mulg also has a magic weapon, and Madrak can cast Jackhammer on him to get more attacks if need be, perhaps to un-jam him. I've already seen some very interesting builds with Madrak 1 in POD, using a GK or MK, so maybe Mulg instead? You'd have to wipe out entire units to stop recursion, but maybe a Bomber followed up by Ricochet can do that often enough.
Band of Heroes, of course, offers RFP on the melee weapons of your units, and perhaps Madrak and his Bomber can clear a path to the unit leaders. His whole kit seems really good with Champs and Warders, backed up by an Axer, Brawler, and/or Bomber. The question is how best to round that out against Ghost Fleet. Sorcerers on the Champs could be doubly useful.
It's possible that Madrak 2 could simply match them in numbers, but he would have to get the jump on Denny and feat first. That doesn't seem likely.
Madrak 3 has Spell Piercer, which is huge, and I've started thinking about how to adapt Dual Aura. The list is probably only stronger now that the Krielstone needs less fury from Madrak, it's just that Madrak 1 is probably just plain better now. Except perhaps in one way- the ability to split the force and spread out, which is immensely helpful in half the scenarios.

The main concern is the lack of a runebearer in band of heroes. All of the Madrak's really want it.

Madrak1 post CID probably has a decent shot. Denny hates high(ish) def steady warcasters. Not sure if he'll be superior to Grim/Gunnbjorn in the Cryx drop role though.

I'm working on a week 2 madrak 1boh battle report. Champs, warders, sons of Bragg. It was definitely my personal best band if heroes list, even if I did lose. Iron fangs can handle high def, it turns out. The Bragg boots are pretty good under even ground.
