Hello friends,
So my first magnetization project went swimmingly. There was just one small snafu - I magnetized the grolars arms instead of the hands! Does anyone have any Kodiak/grolar arms they would be willing to part with!?
Thanks, -Z

zerfiusI just completed a project using Premo modeling clay for the upper potion of the Kodiaks arms. I wanted to magnitize a pair of hands to,use with a Juggernaut multikit, but only had spare hands not arms/shoulder nodes. Premo molds nicely, after baking (275 for 30 min) you can still use a drill bit or file for additional contouring, pinning, or magnetizations (I prestatyed the holes then finished after baking). I am NOT a grennstuff or clay modeler officianodo...but this turned out great.

Can you send a picture of how it ended up?

Can you send a picture of how it ended up? I started just the hands from the parts store. The end in pointy nubs. I took the clay and rolled it, forced it into the socket where I already had the rare earth magnet placed, and pressed. That made the mold. I shaped the exterior portion with my hands mostly, but made a starter hole for the hand socket with a file. Then, remove and bake at 275 for 30 minutes. Then I primed, drilled the magnet no hand socket holes, and glued in the arm socket magnet. After it was dry I covered it with a super thin layer of green stuff mixed with super glue. Then I affixed in the hand and glued. I used a file to fine tune the shape of the part. Then I painted the arm. Boom. I made it all up as I went along. This was my first real attempt at molding parts from clay.
