Hey all I'm just coming back from a long hiatus, and have started playing Hordes for the first time. Trying to get a beast Abby 2 list going and after a couple of weeks I've come up with this list and would love some input. Im trying to go for a swarm if possible since thats what drew me to Abby 2 in the first place. War Room Army

Played against this hilarious list yesterday:
Legion Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Oracles of Annihilation (Absylonia 2) Absylonia, Dog walker of Everblight [+28] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [0(1)] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [0(1)] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1] Spell Martyr [1] Spell Martyr [1] The Forsaken [0(4)] The Forsaken [0(4)]
I managed to chip away about 230 healthboxes, but lost to scenario.
Notes: - All warbeasts run and charge for free. - Shredders are pow12+wm during feat turn. The 2" reach stays during opponents turn. The flight also means that tehy aren't blocked by terrain. - Frenzy isn't a problem, because unboostable MAT5 pow10 has trouble damaging 13/13. Psycho surgery heals all aspects. You can also intentionally fail charges by clipping to opponent models.

Honestly, if you want a swarm go for this in Oracles...
Abby Shredder X 15 Shepherd x2 Spell Martyr Hellion x2
Don't take a Beast Mistress with Abby as they don't get her feat.

I had a chat with my friend and the Shredder swarm could actually be better in CotD.
Abby Shredders x 22 Harriers x4 (for annoyance and flank) 1 x Spell Martyr 2 x Shepherd 1 x Shepherd (free) 2 x Warlord (free) 1 x Incubi (free) --> +1 to start roll, 17 extra points
If you are willing to let go off full shredder swarm, this could also work
Abby Shredders x 19 Harriers x2 Swordsmen (full) 3 x Spell Martyr 3 x Shepher 3 x Incubi (free) --> +1 to start roll, 18 extra points

- Frenzy isn't a problem, because unboostable MAT5 pow10 has trouble damaging 13/13. Frenzy attack rolls are automatically boosted, and if the Frenzying model moved at least three inches the damage roll is, too.

I meant to say unboostable pow10 has trouble damaging ARM13 (in a serious way).

who seriously buys 22 shredders on purpose?
Also I think the topic went seriously off the rails just because he mentioned "swarm"

Also I think the topic went seriously off the rails just because he mentioned "swarm" I thought this way and then I went and counted my shredders that I've just accumulated over various purchases of used models and I've got like 15 of them just by accident.

I have over thirty shredders. They just sort of accumulate.

Did you get them wet? I mean they already look like they've been fed after midnight so...
Either way. I would not recommend going out to buy 20 shredders for a single weird case Abby list.
For small point games neither of the lists are terrible ideas. Just that Abby wants everything in her battle group so drop the beast mistress from the first list and get some other free model (Forsaken).
If you want to add, get Proteus. He is surprisingly great outside of Abby and with her (2) he becomes terrifying. Slipstream and Alpha hunter Proteus threatens 16 to drag something 4" closer. Which puts the enemy model within 12 of where Proteus began. 12" threat under Alpha hunter is pretty much average for most of our heavies. Add to the fact that you can buy more than one tentacle lash, Proteus can just pull as many models as he can reach.

Thanks all for the input. I did try nearly a pure shredder run for awhile but they were getting torn apart by Troll sluggers at a scary rate so I figured I had to flush out with some other beasts. I do get why the beast mistress is a no go, so I will probably go with a succubus instead. As for the Proteus, both he and Typhon have my attention in further expansion.

The beauty of Absy2 is as long as you're doing it with beasts, she can build nearly any way you want (makes her a fantastic ADR caster for that reason).
My favourite options are:
1) Go shooting-beast heavy. Bring a carni, Typhon, Ravagore (avoid Azrael), Naga, Seraph. You could happily go with 2 Ravagores. With this style, you leverage the heavy shooting to force the opponent to engage with you, and when he does you pop feat since everything gets crazy. Of special note is just how much she does for a Ravagore's melee capabilities - flying MAT 7 3 base attacks POW 17/18/18 with free charges and 2" reach is a seriously scary heavy, and Absy gets that out of a strong shooting piece.
2) Go tanky. Get yourself a pair of Carnis, a bloodseer, maybe Typhon, possibly a Neph Prot. Bring the usual support (Seraph, Naga, whatever). The heart of this is your front line of ARM 20 (one 22) beasts, who of course can beat face with the best of them. Key here is the bloodseer, who makes a great first fire-magnet by casting spiny growth and holding the ARM spell. I like the Neph Prot here to soak up crap like Eiryss or Alten.
3) Ankle-biters. throw in your favourite mix of shredders, stingers, harriers, Raeks and Blight Wasps. Laugh with maniacal glee as everything punches way above its weight class. Shredders and blight wasps should make up the bulk of your force, but harriers and stingers could be situationally useful.
She's just so versatile. Easily one of the best casters in the Legion stable imo.

Yeah, been playing her shooty for some time now. She did real well at SOO and locally we have some great players who look at the list and recognise it's merit.
Have never tried Shredder spam though...

This is what I've been doing, but I recommend avoiding Typhon as well and playing in oracles.

The shredder spam list works well enough in COTD. I would definitely take proteus and a protector though.
