Our sad, neglected trollkin buddies. They just want to hang out, cannibalize someone, and have a good time. They've changed up a tad in the transition to MK3 and I'm wondering what people think of them today. What are they good at? What models would you take to fill the rolls they can't? Who's your caster of choice for them? What's keeping them off then board currently? Lets discuss.

Mechanithralls are better for being body blockers because of sheer weight of numbers, while satyxis are just better overall. Less likely to die, better mat and pow. Maybe if we gave them a low mat, but Boise attack rolls against infantry they might be better. Issue being they might be too good then.

I feel like giving them gang back would help quite a bit. At least make them compete with Satyxis more. Giving them Prey also seems like it would work thematically.

Satyxis are just better than bloodgorgers at their offensive job and bloodgorgers are bad anyway. Gang and overtake is way better than berserk and overtake when you have spd7, reach and survive the approach- never mind cheaper than taking Gerlack. Satyxis should probably lose that and bloodgorgers gain something else to differentiate roles.
Satyxis lose overtake prayer and magical weapons becomes a prayer instead.
Bloodgorgers gain relentless charge, steady or something. The Tharn Heart Eater ability would be cool but probably not balanced. Potentially just combo strike to allow them to fight armoured targets, though then they step on the toes of bane warriors.

They're extremely good into melee infantry swarms and that's about it. They won't dent Heavy Armor with their pow 11s, and they do poorly vs gunlines with their 12/16 statline and 11" run to engage engage/charge threat. If your meta is filled with Cephalyx players they'll likely be great, but aside from that the models they prey upon just don't see any play.

They won't get Gang back because that's now a Satyxis thing, so that ship has sailed. I feel that Battle Driven instead of Unyielding would be a good change. It helps them into ranged and makes them slightly better into harder targets, but only if your opponent wants them to. I don't think they will go up in MAT because Trollkin and we have debuffs anyway, but MAT 7 now that they don't have Gang anymore would be nice. I also like the boosted attack rolls against living, but then they need to be MAT 5.
Gerlak should probably be PC 6 now that he no longer gives No Sleeping on the Job and I would really like it if he got 2" melee range again, it would at least differentiate him from regular Bloodgorgers and would be a trade-off for the fact that if he misses an attack, his spree stops, whereas the others can just attack again.

Would Weapon Master be OP on them? I mean, they're only a little cheaper than Champions and they don't have 5 boxes.

They're still interesting with any caster that can give them an defensive boost (Scaverous, Skarre2) or protect them when they're engaged (Gore1). The main problem is that they don't have a theme yet. Infernal machines made McThralls interesting again, when the Satyxis theme comes out they'll probably be included in that. One interesting benefit might be if the living pirates lists army bonus is "no sleeping on the job". That would immediately make Black Ogruns and Blood Gorgers more interesting.

Ive been a long supporter of switching out unyielding for battle driven. I could see prey being cool too. Although im a fan of boats so I think id prefer to give gerlack 2" reach, veteran leader and id love to see a UA that gives them +4 tough (minifeat) and relentless charge and no sleeping on the job. if no sleeping in the job is well stacked with that mini maybe feign death.
