How would you setup an Arkadius list at the moment? I assume a beast heavy theme force, wouldn't a list that counters this also counter a list with GMP Spam, too? My Arkadius list is currently: Doctor Arkadius (Thornfall Alliance theme) -War Hog -War Hog -Road Hog -Road Hog -Gun Boar -Gun Boar -Splatter Boar -Gorax -Targ Hutchuck Gobber Chef Gobber Chef If you run into something neither list can handle, you have two Primal Shocks, two Road Hog sprays, and two Gun Boars (at least one Rat 7) to try and get an "out" if the opponent's Warcaster comes within 25". If they get as close as 19" then you start having melee options too. That said, I think you'll find that nearly every list in the game right now will have enough armour cracking to kill both this list and the GMP. That's the state of the meta right now. What is more important is whether you can kill them faster. This list offers exceptionally high threat ranges, some ridiculous assassination angles, and the combination of Aggravator and Retaliatory Strike on Warbeasts with Crit Knockdown can be terribly rude. Most battlegroup heavy lists will fold to this. Even gun lines, which certainly can be problematic, are sometimes unable to get a turn of shooting in. I've played into Nemo3 Heavy Metal lists where my opponent only got 2-3 extra damage dice out of his Feat because Dynamo's walk and shoot threat was shorter than my War Hog's charge threat, so just about every electric gun in the list was dead or engaged by the time he Feated. In a very real sense it often feels like Arkadius gets the same free turn without being shot at that Rask does, just by moving twice as fast. Honestly, it's not so much that either list poses a question the meta can't answer, but they bring different enough tools to provide their own answers to an opponent's problem. Damm....Might be time to get the pigs going again ;-)

Given the rise of Ghost Fleet, I think I would change my vote to Arkadius/Calaban now being the faction go to pairing.

Considering that the sticking point for Ghost Fleet is usually its recursion, do you find that Calaban's couple of Bone Shakers a turn makes a large difference? If you RFP the unit leaders (or have them die while under your control, like with the Sacral Vault) you shut down the recursion for the rest of the game. They need their unit leaders in play to get it. So yes. Calaban's gun plus Bone Shakers is plenty. I'm with Gaston on this. Arkadius/Calaban is what I'd be running if I could bring myself to play a Gator Warlock

I like Barney and Calaban but I don't want to play Gators either. The only thing gatorish I own is a totem hunter. Also I feel like whatever Barney wants to do I do better with Arkadius...except that sweet sweet swamp pit

I play him with Brigands if it helps? That is how I'd run him. Only Gator models would be battlgroup and Sacral Vault. I'm not saying I'm not tempted...

The two lists I would be tossing up between would be: Calaban -Blindwalker -Blindwalker -Wrastler Max Brigands -warlord Max Brigands -Warlord Min Bone Grinders Maximus Sacral Vault Or Calaban -Blindwalker -Wrastler Max Brigands -Warlord Max Brigands -Warlord Min Bone Grinders Min Bone Grinders Min Bone Grinders Min Bone Grinders Sacral Vault But no, it's probably not going to happen

I really like the first list.

Haha, I prefer the second. I've been having too much fun rolling over the many local Hordes players to abandon my Bone Grinders too easily.
Once Blackbane is sniped out they go from liability (turning into more Blackbanes) to asset (they can kill the rest of the ghosts ok) in the Ghost Fleet match-up too.
The main problem with it is that I have to ignore the OCD impulse to find a way to spend that last Warbeast point...

Hordes is probably only about 30% of my meta so in feel differently about those bone grinders, also you need to cma to reliably get the ghost pirates, or have carnivore on a min unit of bone grinders, the extra magic weapons are helpful though.

Under Calabans feat, if you bone shaker a model the. Use it to kill a second.model, does that give him 1 or 2 fury?

It's not like Carnivore is super useful anywhere else Plus with Parasite they're probably the best tool you have for destroying the Wraith Engine too. Under Calabans feat, if you bone shaker a model the. Use it to kill a second.model, does that give him 1 or 2 fury? I thought it was 0? None for the model directly hit by Bone Shaker because it RFPs the target, and none for the model the Bone Shaker'd model kills because you only get Fury from killing models with Friendly Faction models. So unless your opponent has some Minions for you to Bone Shaker, you won't meet either requirement.

Gross. You're right. That is what happens when you read to quickly and get excited, I was hoping for some nasty Hexeris 1 feat madness.
I think if you're semi teching for ghost fleet anyway you find points for a mist speaker though.
And silly me again carnivore doesn't work on ghost pirates anyway it's living models.
