So I've been wanting to play a super-dumb list for a while, and finally got a chance to try the first iteration last night:
Theme: Infernal Machines
Gaspy1 -Withershadow Combine -Cankerworm -Deathripper -Deathripper -Nightwretch -Ripjaw -Defiler -Inflictor -Scavenger -Scavenger -Helldiver Machine Wraith Machine Wraith Warwitch Siren Mechanithralls (10, ambush)
One of the local guys around here said "okay, it's game plan Vayl2" - basically I wanted to make a MkI style list with a ton of arc nodes and constant threat of death by Hellfire / Breath of Corruption. Definitely not for all matchups, but it was pretty fun. I think it needs to be tweaked to have a little more punch/counterpunch though - five arc nodes is probably excessive (though I was trying to treat them as combat pieces as well, just couldn't quite get it to work the way I wanted it to). It doesn't have to be in Infernal Machines either, I just kind of fell into that.
How would you tweak it?

I think the McThralls would be better as a min unit with Brutes. Even if you use them for ambushes, the Brutes hit harder and have a higher base MAT.
If your plan is as many Hellfires as possible, why not add Darragh Wrathe and Deathjack? You can even stay in Infernal Machines. You could also add some cheap things like Carrion Thralls to aim Breaths of Corruption at in turn 1/2.

It isn't the same, but it fits the concept you are looking at. I have had alot of success with this list and it is more fun to play against than some other lists ( a fleet os some kind). It also may or may not completely counter certain lists like ghost fleet.

Gaspy 1 doesn't do anything specific for ranged, you already have 2 arc nodes and if you want to use it as a GF counter, don't most of its abilities only work on living?

The Corruptor's abilities work on living and undead (except the healing one); I suspect it's in here because it's got an RFP gun (he mentioned anti-ghost fleet) which can also be kind of hilarious with Parasite against a unit.
The brutes are a good idea, they're going to be on my painting table soon so I will probably start using them more in the next month or so. Deathjack is honestly not a bad suggestion either...
I think to be more specific, what I mean to say is that I'm not necessarily going for straight up spamming hellfire, but I want to have a spell assassination be a legitimate threat to most 'casters for most of the game. Right now the list has arcing options available throughout the game, but doesn't quite have enough punch that isn't dependent on Gaspy doing the heavy lifting.
One of the places I'd certainly like some opinions and discussion is on the arc node composition; with this kind of list, they are certainly in part combat pieces.

Made some adjustments:
Theme: Infernal Machines
Gaspy1 -Combine -Cankerworm -Deathripper -Deathripper -Nightwretch -Inflictor -Scavenger -Leviathan -Stalker Machine Wraith Machine Wraith Necrotech Scrap thrall (3) (okay, I needed two points and don't have painted Brute Thralls) Siren 10 Mechanithralls
This version has a little bit more ability to trade and make stand-off plays thanks to the shooting from the Leviathan, though I don't get the stupid amount of 'nodes I would like. The errata today allows me to add one more point, which actually does provide some substantial play in what I can include.

Yeah so again, it's less about Hellfire specifically and more about enabling a Vayl2-type assassination threat. Grindy is alright, but I remember way back in mkI playing against Cryx, so many arc nodes.... always afraid of just getting blasted.
