Hey guys,
I'm preparing myself for a local SR in two weeks which will have some restrictions in place. No themes and only few select warlocks will be available.
Just wanted your thoughts and experience on Midas in Mk3 so far? I feel he can be somewhat strong with a couple lights and at least one unit of brigands/bone grinder for the obvious battle lust/calamity threat extender. His biggest gap seems that he brings zero anti-shoot tech but other than that he looks like a ton of fun.
Here's my draft so far:
Midas War hog War hog Battle Boar Battle Boar Gun Boar Gun Boar
Lanyssa 2x gobber chef swamp gobber bellows
bone grinders full brigands +UA bokor (good death march target and battle lust/calamity)
Thoughts?

The most effective lists I've been making with him have been gun lines. Usually theme force with 2 Brigand units, a min unit of Bone Grinders, two free Razorback Crews, and the rest of the points spent on Gun Boars and Splatter Boars. Hutchuck too, maybe Rorsh and Brine so you have a solid threat range melee threat. You don't really want to play it into enemy guns, but it do a lot of work at range.
I don't really like War Hogs with him. They're not particularly fast, not particularly tough, and I prefer models with guns who can aim on Feat turn to trying to get work out of the War Hog's initials.

I tried a build with War Hogs and found that they were too slow (at least against my regular opponents). I tried to do the opposite and went with:
Thornfall Theme, Midas, Targ, Battle Boar, Splatter Boar, 2 Gun Boars, 2 full Brigands w. CA, 2 min Bone Grinders, full Commandoes, 2 Razorback Crew, 2 Efaarit Scouts.
I played it at a small local tournament and was surprised how much damage output it had. I lost to Karchev 'jack spam because I cast Battle Lust but should have prioritised Calamity (there is so much shooting in the list that it might delay engagements). I managed to win against Stryker1 because my opponent was fairly inexperienced (as was I with the list).
I then dropped Arkadius for some games and basically felt afterwards that Midas could have done just as well or better. My inexperience meant I was pressed for time (a ton of models to move and Hog Wild means you attack twice with each model, which also eats your clock).
I know you cannot play Theme but I hope my experience is still useful somehow.

currently i'm running this build WITH alot of succes. its a slight variation on one of gastons builds.
Thornfall theme force.
midas -targ -gunboar -gunboar -gunboar -battleboar -splatter boar Rorsh -brine Full briggands -free warlord. razorback crew. razorback crew. (free) farrow cammondo's. viktor pendrake. bone grinders (min)
pretty much keep shooting at your foes. pick your targets...try and get lucky shot on your crews as much as possible.
briggands can go wild hog and WRECK shit with battle lust...add calamity if its a collosal.
