Started a thread on trying to learn not to suck. As part of an exercise to work towards that goal i'm going to try playing Butcher 3 for awhile and focus on getting better at certain parts of the game. So I need help building a list for a new player using Butcher 3. Here are all the models I own, would prefer to keep my shopping list as small as possible. What should I be looking to buy next, besides the obvious Butcher 3. I could just troll the internet for list, but i'm hoping to get a list geared toward a new player focusing on the basics. Rather then a tournament list with advanced traps built into it. Any help would be appreciated.

So I would focus either on a Jaws of the Wolf theme or a Winterguard theme. Either are good themes with him. I think you want to buy Ruin or proxy him until you can buy the model. Really. Ruin is that good.
If you want to play the Winterguard theme then I'd say put in Joe, the Riflecorp, the rockets, and the field guns (one will be free). Then add jacks. If you find you like this theme, you can consider investing in the officer and standard and 3 more rockets. The Gun carraige is ok, but the rules are going to change for it in a month so for now I'd say just fill out the lists with a wardog and jacks.
For Jaws, take the Eliminators, scouts, Marksman, wardog, and a bunch of jacks. If you find you like the Eliminators you can get a second unit but just play with th models you have for now. I like Behemoth in a Jaws list for extra ranged threat but this is a matter of taste.

Hi, with your target of not getting assasinated B3 is an awkward choice. Not bad, even very good for your target. The thing is his play style revolves around piece-trading and getting own hands dirty untill there's nothing left that can hurt him. A clever use of feat and positioning is required. On the other hand his personal treat projection is scary and you will have to learn good positioning.
For the list. I think he excells out of theme as well as in theme War dog, 2 kodiaks, ruin - this is the baseline. I like orin, gorman, ragman, kell, bokur then for some very usefull shenanigans. But not all at the same time. My personal pick is also Drakhun as his CC ability really helps a lot of time.
So depending on opposition you have a very important option for variance: 1) Take more jacks - see how good he is at armor cracking 2) Take some shooting - make him get to you. Take out key pieces at distance 3) Take some support - counter his clever techs (kell - against covenant; bokur agains eyriss, oring against magic and jammers, gorman/ragman agains armor)
All-in-all a good choice for learning. Just mind the treats. On full focus B3 can tank a fully loaded colossal but that is a rare commodity.

My favorite B3 list: 1. WG theme. Sac pawn on B3 is great and it's the only way to not pay for Rager or Bokur. 2. Wardog is a must have. A lot of times B3 will get hit in melee, dog helps a lot. 3. Take 5 jacks. Ruin is a must have. After that 2xDevastators/Kodiaks/Demolishers, they're your frontline, hide B3 behind clouds/clams. Then 2x Juggy/Marauder, they will kill whatever comes to wreck your frontline. 4. Take min mechanics. They'll help when your jacks will get randomly crippled. Crippled Cortex/Move Ruin is a very sad Ruin. 5. Fill the rest with Winter Guard. A lot of combinations are possible: min units, max units, no rockets more bodies, with rockets less bodies. Joe is obligatory. Free units should be Field guns to have a bit of control and hit fixing, B3 doesn't need damage from mortars. Don't forget more wg units = more jacks getting Advance move, you'll need at least two and four is the maximum since Ruin is better hanging out in the back. Keep at least 2-3 wg grunts close to B3 at all times to sac pawn. 6. You can take Widowmakers. They don't sac pawn, but they remove pesky enemy support better than wg.

My suggestion would be to not buy Butcher3.
You already have Koslov and Sorscha1. Buy Vladimir1 and Butcher1. Play a lot of games with these 4 casters before you even look at Butcher3.
Stop trying to run before you can walk. Stop trying to learn Khador 301 before you learn Khador 101. And stop asking people to make your lists for you, learn the game and make your own list.
But hey, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
