Hello!
Next Sunday I will play against a troll player. He will be using either Ragnor1 or Horgle2 and The Power of Dhunia theme force. He always bring a full unit of Krielstone with attachment, a pair of maulera and one or two bombers.
Any suggestiona on how to deal with this using only the active duty casters? Thanks!

Bloodwitches with agathia I think.

Trolls hate, hate, hate cloudwalls (especially the bombers). Gaspy2 or McThralls + gunslingers can do a lot to keep your stuff safe. As other people have mentioned blessed weapons also do wonders against buffs, so blood witches can be great choice.

Also, the witch has that aura that takes away tough and healing, effectively neutering 50% of troll special abilities. But you are going to definitely want to take either some armor cracking or some grevious wounds on a stick that can reach his caster or circumvent his brick/road block. Stalkers would be good too as an assassination avenue.

I'd personally go with either Agathia or Asphyxious2. You really want armor fixing against Trolls and these two casters come with Parasite which is the biggest armor swing our current ADR allows. Trolls also hate things that turn off healing & tough since abilities like tough, regeneration, and snacking are so common themes of the faction so things like Blood Witches, Stalkers, & other sources of Grevious Wounds work great.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestions. I managed to put together this list:
Asphixious2 -Kraken Aiakos -Stalker -Stalker Blood Witches (max) -Blood Hag Bane Warriors (min) Mechanithralls (min) -Brute Gunslingers Necrosurgeon Soul Tapper
Would you change anything in the list?
Thanks!!

Thanks!! I think Asphyxious 2 is one of the worst casters to have a Kraken with, as he can't help it hit with its MAT 6 and he can't protect it at all (clouds don't block LoS to a colossal). Try dropping it, putting the Stalkers on Gaspy (or ADR one for Cankerworm) and squeeze in a node to arc Parasite. Gunslingers making clouds removes from play, so you won't be able to bring back those Mechanithralls with the Surgeon. Also, you only have 6 Bane Warriors as viable feat targets, so more RFP will really hamper your abilities, I would try to at least max that unit.

As others have said, and as much as I love the Kraken, I would drop it with asphyxious 2. I would also get rid of the necrosurgeon, and try and maximize the bane warriors, maybe add the UA (basically a double feat with those guys), and add in the cankerworm and an arc node. If you still have points, maybe trade in the mechanithralls for the birds if you want a fast jamming unit. But that is ultimately up to you, if mechanithralls are just there for cloud generation, then go to town.

Against trolls you need: 1)More than 11'' threat range of your heavies to counter Troll Axer animus. 2)some anti-shooting tech: shield guards, clouds, stealth on heavies, immune to blast damage on infantry. 3)some stuff to cancel tough on unit and healing on heavies and sometimes even on gargant(blood witches CA, mortality, GW)
It is OK to face 3-4 heavies capable to 1-round your Kraken or clear 1-2 units of infantry every turn with precise blasts, while every their infantry model has tough along to decent defensive stats.

Do you face any restrictions about what models you can use, i.e., what you own?

We currently have no restrictions since they are allowing us to proxy models. Do you have an example for a good battlegroup for gaspy2 and also for what other models should I take with him?
Thanks!

conflictchamber.com/#b41b0E1k191h1h7k1z1AgeCryx Army - 37 / 75 points !!! Your army must contain at least 98 total points. (Asphyxious 2) Lich Lord Asphyxious [+28] - Cankerworm [9] - Deathripper [6] - Stalker [8] - Stalker [8] Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist [4] Bane Warriors (max) [17] - Bane Warrior Officer & Standard [6] Satyxis Gunslingers [7] I would start from this. The Stalkers threaten to knockdown the caster with Jump and headbutt, they're also great solo hunters, Cankerworm is usually great with Asphyxious, arc node for when needed. Gunslingers for making more clouds in a pinch, but don't fall into the trap of overusing them. If you don't need the clouds, then having more models is more useful for you. Bane Warriors are your best feat targets, though you could also take some Knights to follow up with 2" melee. Gorman is great with Blind to help you hit. You should also add 1-2 units of Satyxis, either choice is fine, to be your accurate infantry clearers, as Asphyxious only supports the damage department. After that sprinkle to taste. Raider Captains are nice for solo hunting and threatening knockdown again. You could also use the ADR bonus to swap in Blackbane's Ghost Raiders as some lists have a hard time dealing with them. Some chaff to make into clouds is an option, but it depends on what you want. For reference, this is a list I played a while ago: conflictchamber.com/#b41b0E1k191h1h7k4if01y1y1R1Tge1N1PCryx Army - 75 / 75 points (Asphyxious 2) Lich Lord Asphyxious [+28] - Cankerworm [9] - Deathripper [6] - Stalker [8] - Stalker [8] Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist [4] Saxon Orrik [4] Soul Trapper [1] Bane Warriors (min) [10] Bane Warriors (min) [10] Satyxis Blood Witches (max) [13] - Satyxis Blood Hag [4] Satyxis Gunslingers [7] Satyxis Raiders (max) [16] - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch [3] I liked it, but when you need extra clouds, it forces you to hit high value models as there isn't much chaff. Though, under this premise, you learn to appreciate the value of it more and tend to not overuse it. Saxon is nice to give the Satyxis Pathfinder, or even Asphyxious if you want to charge over a wall to extend your feat range.
