All fair points. I'm concerned you'll keep ending up playing some rough list chicken. I think I'm getting ahead the intent of CID though. "If I bring this, they bring that, then I have to bring this." I don't think CID can handle this amount of Meta-ception. My fist port of call would probably be Horgel2. He loves Mountain Kings, Sluggers & Fire Eaters! He doesn't seem like the BEST buff caster for the war wagon, but definitely not the WORST. I apologize if I'm cluttering up you Calandra thread.

I was thinking the same thing in terms of both the pairing strategy and that there is something good in here even if I don't know what. Then again, that's the exact same hunch that I just can't shake about Children of the Dragon.
Could it be Grim 2? Is that why they won't allow the Runebearer?
I was also wondering- if you had to port over the Grim 1 list from Kingdom Con, how would you do it?

The Runebearer is too good with Grim1 in the matchups you care about, and I highly value Janyssa, the Shamans, and the Axer as well (rushing the Mountain King leads to some scary threat numbers).

Horgle2 has potential. I still like him better in PoD because fully boosted Rock Hammers are nasty (and getting all of your upkeeps for free is straight money). And no worries about the "clutter". TBH I should have made a singular United Kriels dojo thread but have been making separate ones for separate Warlocks.

Yeah the upkeep part of PoD for Horgel is pretty legit. Getting his spells out and pumping up the stone is pretty hard out of theme. I never played him in theme cause I wanted fire eaters with him, so maybe I'll give it a try.

Losing access to an Axer, Bouncer and Mauler in the theme list looks pretty terrible to me. Seems like you're forced into a taking a Mountain King just to be able to include rage. With the amount of heavies I see in the meta, not sure what all of our awesome POW 15 meaty fists are going to accomplish without rage. I'm be worried that any list developed out of this theme are more cute, than competitive. Guess I better get to playtesting. The Calandra list you posted seems like it's got some legs, but It seems susceptible to being jammed up. Maybe this is where your list pair would come in, in a competitive environment. I'd be interested in how Bushwackers could work as a screen with the "slip away" order. Get them up the board to act as a backstop. Ideally they'd slip out of the way, and allow the rest of the force behind to unload. Hard to pass up backstrike and befuddle, but just throwing out another idea. While I agree not having access to a Mauler is not a great place to be Grissel1 and Grim2 both have -2 armour spells which coupled with the stone allow those fists to hit at POW 18 which is enough to get the job done since ideally you'll get to soften them up at range first. The bigger stumbling block so far for me is not having access to the Runbearer which I really like with most of the casters I'd consider running in the theme.

Other than Croak Raiders and the Runebearer, Horgle has all of his best synergies in this theme, so there is that.

Something I find hylarious it's that all that this theme really need to be better is the pyre animus to revert back to the mk2 version.
That said I like how it opens up our more gunline oriented casters, allowing them to take the right infnatry for the job.
If the future of Wm is geared towards a return of infantry spam it could become really good

I'm not exactly pumped to play the War Wagon in this theme force, but I do think I'd like to try running this list:
Trollbloods Army - 74 / 75 points
(Horgle 2) Horgle, the Anvil [+29] - Dire Troll Bomber [19] - Mountain King [36] Troll Whelps [4] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] - Stone Scribe Elder [3] Pyg Bushwhackers (max) [15] - Pyg Bushwhacker Officer & Mortar [0] Thumper Crew [0] Trollkin Sluggers (max) [10] Trollkin Sluggers (max) [10]
I know it's only 10 free points, but that's ok i feel.
