Hello everyone,
It's that time again.
Newb question Time.
This week we open this discussion over the razor worm and the archidon.
Lately, I have been noticing the Archidon love and I can't argue it. Great stats, Great abilities, decent animus. However, I noticed that the razor worm is basically the same thing. Well, it's like an "Archidon Jr." Sure the stats are lower but its cost is lower as well.
My question for all is, is the Archidon worth the extra three points?

The Archidon is worth it if you caster needs that sprint animus. There is more to the argument than that but the deciding factor for me.

The choice of Animus is definitely important. Do you want Spiny Growth but don't want to pay for a Rhinodon? Take the Razor Worm. In most other situations I'd go for the Archidon though.

Very few warlocks can get good use out of Spiny Growth. Even among the ones that do, it's strength is far from overwhelming. Here they are though:
Makeda3 can blood boon it, keep plenty of transfers, and have Agonizer + battle driven make her really resilient. Rasheth has the spare fury for it, fears assassination often, and it pairs well with his Impervious flesh to make him effectively arm 19.5. Zaal2 is prone to assassination, but with spare fury from souls most turns, he can cast SG to get up to arm 20 and maybe live a little more often. Naaresh, with his free upkeeps and arm buffing from blood tokens can both afford it and stack it's effect.
Of course, Hexy1&2 couldn't ask for a better arc node. Eyeless sight, advance deploy, drag below, and dig in make for a fantastic arc node.
The Rhinodon did of course get a bit better. If you're trying to make do without the Gladiator/Sentry beast wall, his extra speed and cost/arm ratio make him viable for Agonizer set ups. You do have to remember he can't run and spiny growth though. He's cheap enough, is hard enough to remove, and out-powers both the Archidon and Wurm for a missle firing strategy with Xerxis2 or Morghoul1.

Of course, Hexy1&2 couldn't ask for a better arc node. Eyeless sight, advance deploy, drag below, and dig in make for a fantastic arc node. Well, Hexy 2 is the main reason why I started this thread. Archidon's main appeal in Hexy 2 is the fast arc node support it provides. However, the Razor worm also fulfills this role and for a lower cost.

Take a close look at the attack range on the Razor Worm. Then go over to the Hellmouth for legion that only costs 6 points... a flat frigg'n 6... And the Archidon wins!!
