Much better value than buying the old starters or just buying models directly, so if you were thinking of starting Monpoc... approximately a year from now when this is expected to ship...

And it is double-funded like 90 minutes in!

I pledged for the whole shebang. Was always interested in MonPoc but never got around to giving it a go.
It's broken 15 stretch goals or somesuch now.

I just had a look at the stretch goal status. Am I right in thinking a base pledge gets you not just the original 8 monsters and 40 units (and 24 buildings), but now you also get an additional 5 monsters 20 units? The value on that compared to normal PP prices is actually insane; I think you're saving like $500 or thereabouts?

It doesn't include the add on boxes but I think it includes unlocked monsters yeah. I think.

Yeah, it's like 15 monster and 60 units in just the core box now.
Now I'm just considering whether I should buy any, or all, of the expansion boxes.

It looks like you currently get all the Ape units, but none of the Ape monsters? I'm also seeing some M8D units and a Martian monster, and the next unlock is SSI; seems a bit random? Perhaps it makes sense gameplay-wise?

Kondo and Hondo were both unlocked; I saw that. I have not paid attention to how the stuff is divided between the core box and expansions, though.

I remember commenting on how expensive the previous starter boxes were...and people shouting me down that it was normal. No, this is normal. It's PP prices that are insane.
Apparently it can be done cheaper and more accessible (like actually having stuff for both players in the box!!! Shocking!!! and with a proper board instead of cheap paper map).
35$ expansion with 4 big monsters and 10 smaller units (actually more with stretch goals)- now we're talking.
Stretch goals that are actual minis (in abundance!), not pointless (to the point of being offensive) stuff like "thematic wallpapers" or "alternative groin guard" or whatever ...
That's how you make and price stuff, PP. Watch and learn. Maybe you will save WM&H like this one day.

I was wondering how long it would be before you showed your face around here and got on your tired “PP costs too much / PP is awful for reason X” horse. I had a lengthy reply typed up, addressing your overt and implicit criticisms point-by-point, but I just tossed it. There’s no point. All I’ve got to say is this: get over this price argument and get over yourself. You complained endlessly about how PP’s models are too expensive and blah blah blah ad nauseum, and now that Privateer has partnered with another company to manufacture a cheaper version of a game in basically the same way you always championed, you seemingly are still not satisfied. You are twisting yourself in knots to take what should, even by your own previous criteria, be a very positive event and yet you STILL find a way to gripe and complain about perceived injustices. Enough, dude. Your endless, ceaseless, repetitive complaints — delivered and couched as enlightened wisdom and keen observations — is poison. If you like what they’ve done, great, say “This is a good step.” If you hate it, say “This is awful.” But please STOP moving the goal posts just so you have something else to whinge about. Posting passive-aggressive divisive stuff just so you can take another swipe at PP over some perceived injustice serves no meaningful purpose. Those of us who are happy with things don’t want to hear it. If you hate Privateer and their business practices so much that every other post of yours is a complaint, then stop engaging with the Privateer community. Dropping in just to say “Oh look, this is still awful” is a waste of your time and ours. Back the Kickstarter or don’t back it. If you back it, great! Come back and tell us how happy you are with your new purchase! If you don’t back it, fine! Go away instead of telling us all why we’re unenlightened sheeple for enjoying something.

people shouting me down that it was normal.
Disagreements are normal on the internet and in real life. Don't take it personally.
I agree that PP prices are expensive, but there's a difference between taking a risk on a new product, hiring someone very skilled to sculpt a new model, producing that model in-house in America at as high a quality as possible, and between taking existing designs that have already paid for themselves and proven to have a market for mass-production in China.
I'm still amazed at the price difference, as I've repeatedly expressed, I'm just saying remember it's not a straight-forwards comparison.

Mike, please try to keep it civil and respect other poster's opinions even if you disagree with them. There aren't many of us left around these parts, lets value the few of us who are still here.

Soul Samurai, are you buying in? Not the main box as I really don't need a crap-ton more minis; I'm already struggling to manage the stuff I have, and I kind of already have almost all the Monpoc minis that I want for now. I'm thinking about getting the "veteran" pledge, but I'm on the fence; I suspect I might go through some job and location changes in the next year so I don't know if I'll still be playing Monpoc by then.
I'm also suffering indecision paralysis because of the Infinity Tag Raid kickstarter that's running at almost exactly the same time. I don't play Infinity, but I do love the models and have a number lying around, and every time I see those amazing studio paint jobs I feel "The Itch"...
By the way, I realise we haven't spoken enough about that Kickstarter promotional video, with the monsters stomping around the city. That was pretty fun eh?
