While assembling my Marcher Worlds I decided that I didn't like their heads. Also the paint scheme I was considering would work better with visored helmets. After resisting the urge to give them all Earthworm Jim heads (an idea that I am saving for a Space Marine some time in the future...), I eventually found some Destiny helmet stl files online that I liked. A few iterations for sizing later, and five out of my six infantrymans now have Destiny heads. Unfortunately this white resin doesn't photograph very well, hopefully they'll look good once they're painted though.
I left the default Hunter with his original helmet; I guess it just didn't feel worth it to try to swap it out. Now I'm having second thoughts though.
Anyway, next up I need to assemble and magnetise the Timberwolf Duskwolf, once that's done I'll try to power through the painting as quickly as possible.

Cool! It gives them that more sci-Fi ish look! I like the originals, because they look like "rebels". I also love how you use the same Tube to make your bases that I do ...

Duskwolf is magnetised and assembled. Which was quite a job; those arm weapons don't have very much meat to drill out for magnets! And to think there's still a second weapon pack and three more heads (one was missing in the original shipment) to magnetise. Ah well, it should be worth it to be able to swap around loadouts. Once the rest of the parts arrive I'll cut some foam to securely hold all the parts. Painting has begun; so far I have... primed black. Well, it's a start. I'm hoping to have them done by next week. Fingers crossed!

So I just received the second shipment wave from PP, which included the second weapon packs and the heavy warjacks. I was a bit surprised to find that the heavy warjacks are on the same 50mm bases as the light warjacks. For some reason I thought they were going to be on the same 80mm bases as the vehicles; probably just because I was expecting the lights on 40mm bases so when they turned out to be 50mm bases I just assumed the heavies would be on the next largest base size.
Anyway, I finished all the airbrush work for my Marcher Worlds starter, and I'm hoping to start with the finer brush work tonight. The plan is to finish the void gates first; with luck I might manage that tonight. Fingers crossed.

I got carried away and spent far longer on the void gates than I had intended, but I think it was worth it:

I said it in the other thread, but again: gorgeous!

Technically off-topic, but here's the results of a test for CNC milling WNM faction logos:
The Marcher Worlds logo looks pretty good, but I'm thinking of making the outer diamond and chevrons bolder so they take paint better. The ISA logo has a number of issues. So yeah, still got some work to do.

Looks great! I thought about doing something similar. My hobby drive just vanished mid-August and hasn’t recovered.

Are you into CNC machining? I took it up before getting into 3D printing, but for various stupid reasons rarely touch it now.

No. About four years ago now, I was giving real thought to joining a maker space here locally and dabbling in it. I wanted to make custom storage trays for terrain for my LGS. (Warhammer players can’t put things back where they belong, you know. I think they are physically incapable of it.) It’s on my to-do list, as is 3D sculpting, painting a bunch of things, and convincing PP to let me errata some number of Khador models.

That's pretty cool. 3d printing is more versatile of course, especially when it comes to supporting this hobby.
Sucks to be burnt out of course. I'm kinda feeling that way about everything else right now; sign of the times I guess. Still hobbying though (at my painfully slow speed); almost finished painting my Ranger fire team yesterday. I'm hoping to find time to finish them off tonight.

Well, I didn't quite manage to finish my Rangers today, but that's mainly because I spent a bunch of time on this instead: I'm slightly annoyed that the plywood I'm using has a lot of empty spaces under the top layer. The big issue is where you see it in the logo. I'll have to try to fill the gaps with some filler or PVA and sawdust or something.

I finally got my first game in last weekend. Had to proxy everything because the last couple of weeks have not been great (REALLY tempted to quit my job right now) and I haven't had time to finish painting my models. Still, I was pleasantly surprised; I feel like the game has more depth than I expected, and the the activation and deployment mechanics help remove a lot of the frustrations that can happen in other miniature games I've played. I've started writing up a battle report, but... eh, I'll get it finished this weekend. Probably.
I was talking about the game today with my friend who was in on the kickstarter with me. Most of the (very small) local miniature gaming base are doing 40K; he actually has a 40K Custodes army, an unassembled Grey Knights army (I think they had a rule update after he bought them that left them in a poor state), and has recently been building a 40K Black Dragons army. We were talking about when to meet up to play again, and I asked if he thought we should ask some more of the group if they want to play, and he said he wasn't sure they would be interested in an actual fun game. So yeah, he already loves Warcaster (and is apparently outgrowing 40K...).

I've not been feeling very energetic or motivated lately (so no progress on the painting), but I did manage to finish magnetizing my friend's ISA jacks.
If you look closely you can see that every weapon uses at least one magnet and two pins to index and lock into place, which I found was necessary because the parts were all heavy metal. I used ring magnets, with the pin in the center of the magnet (I can post photos of my parts and tools if anyone is interested in the details).
I really wish we hadn't split up the delivery waves. When the Firebrand arrived I magnetized the arm weapons with two pins each, and I magnetized the shoulder weapons to stick off the side of the shoulder (the way the weapon is supposed to sit, which btw didn't work very well the way I had done it). Then when the Morningstar arrived I realized that it used the same weapons. The problem was that a)both shoulders could take weapons, and b)the arms already had two peg/hole attachment points.
To deal with the shoulder issue, I ripped out the old magnets from the Firebrand shoulder and shoulder weapons, and magnetized them to sit on top of the shoulder instead of to the side. This worked much better I think, although it took some trial and error to get a stable mount.
For the arms, I ended up sticking with the pin spacing I was already using, even though it didn't match the existing spacing on the Morningstar, as it would have been VERY destructive to try to remove all the magnets from the Firebrand arms and arm weapons. It was annoying, but I was able to install matching magnets in the Morningstar arms, so the weapons were interchangeable in the end. It would have been much cleaner and better to use the Morningstar spacing to begin with, if only I had known they used the same weapons before I started.
I magnetized the heads on the Firebrand, but not on the Morningstar as my friend said he didn't think it was worth it.
Anyway, long story short: just a bit of sanding left then I can pass the parts back to my friend to assemble. Of course I still have my Strike Raptor sitting around waiting for it's turn...
