So I was perusing the tactics section on Battle College(I think), and came across an interesting article regarding a strong flank/denial strategy wherein you side-load your deployment with an AD gun unit to pick off their army as they're forced to skew to one side and counter you.
I'm wondering - does anyone know a good site for source for high-level strategy like this? I'd love to dig into more of it and get my game going a bit more.

Posting as a guest and can't go back and edit. For clarity - side load your deployment zone with the bulk of your army, then AD a gun unit out in the center to pick off any untits having to skew to your side.

Ah, the flying column tactic (back in the day when war actually used strategy on open field scenarios instead of bombs, the strategist would form a fast moving column on either side of their formation and use them like a rapid response team. If the enemy reacted to the flying column's movements, it would thin the center. If the enemy refused to acknowledge the flying column, they'd flank them, destroying the enemy formation and force them to retreat.) The reason I liked Guardians of the Temple theme was because you could use the daughters like a flying column, forcing the enemy to be warry of the sides of the board and making them cluster their weaker models together, forming a perfect pit for cleansers to clean up the mess. The flying column was generally defeated by using a V shape to your forces so that they could react to both at the same time. You'd then send your own flying column from the massed center to quickly counter theirs until the column retreated or were destroyed. The columns you used for the counter attack would then fill out the V shape into the particular box shaped pattern...
AS FOR THE SITES! x.O;
if you are looking to study up on different strategies to take on particular opponents or lists, you could even ask on here. However, finding and joining the discussion group for some of the stronger metas could get you the most up-to-date strategies and how to counter them.

I agree with the above. You can definitely use the AD or ambush options to push things to the center and provide small elements of the control. This will be particularly useful when SR2017 drops. In Protectorate, we have 3 solid AD choices, and I will give my opinion of how they can help you create the pressure you might be looking for below.
Idrian Skirmishers: These guys are good for keeping your opponents 16" away from you. From my experience, you do want to flank with these guys more than you want to screen with them, making them perfect for the strategy you described. Idrians are super good at protecting circular zones, which is all the more significant in SR2017 since your battlegroup will not want to have to dedicate a lot of resources to clearing these zones. If you want a single unit you can bring with any non-theme list, these guys are the best.
Exemplar Errants: These are probably not the guys you are looking for. These guys are attrition pieces meant to screen your army. That said, they can be great baiting pieces. Self sacrifice and unyielding make them difficult to remove, so you can use these guys to hold down a weaker flank or be a diversion in the center while your Idrians or cavalry options flank. They are also great at taking the attention away from Knights Exemplar, which get the most work done per piece of probably any infantry unit in the game. Defenders Ward on Errants can turn them into a huge thorn in your opponents side.
Daughters of Flame: These ladies are my current favorite due to the interactions Demonic was describing. Gaining Ambush from the Flameguard theme dials their flanking ability to 11. These ladies threated 13 1/2" off the board edge the turn the come in, and with their acrobatics abilities, they can easily get to the enemy support. Last weekend at a tournament, used ambushing daughters to kill a Wrongeye that wandered too close to the board edge. The next game, I used ambushing daughters again to kill a mage hunter strike force that was closing in on my jacks. This threat usually pushes your opponent into the center 20" of the board, making them very susceptible to sprays like Flameguard Cleansers or Hand of Judgment, feats like Feora1's or even Kreoss1's, or even the Flame Bringers cavalry. While these are not gun AD options, the ambush option is really strong.
That all said, if you are looking for the good gun skirmishing options, Idrians are quite good at it. Just keep in mind they need a lot of protection. They make great use of terrain, though, and are probably the perfect unit for what you are describing.
